DOOM was very avant-garde when it came to being self-trained in audio. He was an excellent engineer. He mixed hundreds of records in my home/our studio + was one of the first rapper/producers I knew who was proficient as a mixing engineer. On the cutting edge with that for sure.

Did a weird A&R job recently. Kept a r*pist off an album replaced him with 2 artist friends of mine who were dream features for the guy releasing the album. Got them paid. No one paid me for this but at least that rapper got 86’d if I have to get rid of these abusers 1 at a time!

Even though I’ve never made a single penny for my work on this and also didn’t get proper credit - I agree and don’t think the record will ever be bested. Thom Yorke of Radiohead told Rolling Stone it’s the greatest LP of all time - full stop - of ANY genre. Blessed to be on it

I had a 10-year stretch of being privvy. In my era DOOM travelled w/ the SP-1200 +/or the ASR-10. He had special hard cases to protect them, mic & power cords, etc. What other machines he had @ home studio? Dunno. I shopped for years for a Fender Rhodes he wanted - never copped.

Random DOOM memory we used to have days where we didn’t talk we just read books and played records I cooked and did writing/editing and he’d be mixing or making beats … we both might go paint on the roof or do some black book work. it was nice to be silent.

I just found the original MF DOOM bio (the only one he ever allowed/authorized, if a label did one after he didn't want it or agree with it).
It has a MetalFace Records official release schedule and much more. I'll maybe print it in the book as an Epilogue. Here's a snip...
