maybe there’s a kind of dunbar’s number for ideas/texts — ie you can only have ~5 “close ideas” influencing your thinking heavily at a given point, ~15 influencing you somewhat less actively, and ~50-150 you’re dimly aware of & engage with rarely and/or mostly unconsciously

Last night I learned that Van Gogh failed at scenius. He bought and decorated a house in Arles, where he hoped to gather a bunch of other Impressionists to make art together. Only one guy showed up and he had to leave after two months because he and Van Gogh got along so poorly.

Lots of us are aware of our individual archetypes. But what about the emergent archetypes of dyads, triads, etc.?
Perhaps no one in a group represents the Fool individually, but the group as a whole does. Or maybe your wizard + their hermit —> mystic.

We already have some archetypes that only characterize dyads, eg good cop/bad cop. The emo + cheerleader pair is also a kind of archetype that emerges as something greater than the sum of its parts.

Hmm, maybe that vaguely agreeing on aesthetics or a style isn’t enough for a scene to emerge or coalesce — equilibrium of temperaments and goals is just as important. Be reasonably sure of alignment before making big moves toward seeding the scene.
