Attendance today announced as 21,165. That's incredible for a game during holiday break for the students against a Tennessee Tech team that came in at 4-8. Tennessee fans have historically shown they will support good basketball and it also doesn't hurt that they love this coach.
If you only casually follow Tennessee football you might think this thing is in the bag. If you're a true Vol fan you're intimately aware that absolutely any damn thing in the world could happen in these next 15 minutes.
Really impressive to see Tulsa overcome the intimidation factor that every coach in America deals with when facing a Penny Hardaway coached team and gut out a 95-79 win.
David Pollack should not be allowed to comment on Georgia and the playoffs. Just embarrassed himself on national television by arguing for LSU-which lost 40-13 to Vols on their home field-to be in over Tennessee they beat UGA.
Jason Witten just said on MNF that Alvin Kamara wasn't used the right way at Tennessee. Hardly controversial, but Vol fans will enjoy knowing that a VFL of that stature is on board with a universal gripe.
Wow, super impressed with Rashaan Gaulden. Didn't anticipate he'd do interviews tonight, but steps up to the podium and apologizes for his 'gesture.' Apologizes to Tennessee and says 'my parents didn't raise me that way.'
So funny to hear how different Jay Wright's take on Tennessee's win is than Seth Davis'. (Psst...the guy with the national titles thinks it was a big time win on a night when Tennessee didn't shoot well)
Mercy. In a million years can you imagine Josh Heupel getting on twitter and doing this. SMH. Tennessee fans--as well as fans of other SEC programs--are fortunate to have an adult at the head of organization.
I normally don’t respond to second-rate /J.V. radio programs I’ve never heard of (and apparently no one else has either considering you’re in the Upstate & have 8,000 followers )
Do you have a good source ? Other than , oh I don’t know ....ME?
Happy for Garrett. We got OUR guy
He has got to be the most insecure head coach in America. This is one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever watched and I covered a lot of Butch Jones' press conferences.
Shane Beamer was spittin this morning over perceived criticism of the Dowell Loggains hire
"I'm *sure* you guys reached out to Bill Parcells -- anybody? I'm *sure* all the experts called Sean Payton ... I'm *sure* you reached out to Kyle Shanahan."
Long time members of the program still have some pride. Long time staff Bill Whitesell just stopped Vandy kid from running to mid field with their 'Anchor Down' flag where it looked like they intended to plant it. Whitesell was having NONE of it.
Tennessee has played two top five teams at home this year and been the favorite against both. Vegas respects TBA. Tonight's crowd was as good as I've seen.
Driving from Memphis missed the drama. Just watched the PC. Only time Penny Hardaway looked like a rookie HC today was in his post game PC. Embarrassing to see him put Jordan Bone’s name in his mouth like that. If Rick Barnes coaches 100 more years you wouldn’t see him do that
Vandy-UK game completely pivoted when
#SEC
refs botched obvious foul on a three point attempt from Pippen Jr., then piled on by assessing Stackhouse with a tech when he understandably went crazy. Brutal job by that crew but guessing no one who follows this league is surprised
Let me reiterate, don't try to talk to me about the SEC POY if Dalton Knecht isn't first on your ballot. You obviously had something else to do tonight other than watch this second half evisceration he has put on Auburn.
Enormous get for
@Vol_Hoops
, nation's top point guard Kennedy Chandler picks Tennessee over UK, Duke, UNC and Memphis. Big time work by assistant coach
@Englishscope24
and Rick Barnes
Josh Dobbs introduced and shown on the jumbotron, huge ovation for him. Well deserved. I know I underestimated him when he was here. Covered up so much coaching incompetence with his play.
Bruce Pearl just walked out to do his radio show and got a pretty loud and warm reception from the many Tennessee fans still in the building.....interesting.
🎶Rollin’ down a backwoods, Tennessee byway...🎶
It sure is great to be a Tennessee Vol!
Thanks for a fun Saturday night,
@Vol_Hoops
! Go Vols! 🍊🏀

Have been In arenas/stadiums all over the country. Tennessee ushers, whether telling parents they can’t take a picture with their 6 year old on the TBA floor post game or bickering with the parents of kids in wheelchairs at a regional baseball game, the worst I’ve seen, not close
That Dee Williams punt return is going to go down as a classic Neyland moment. This place has erupted. It was already a madhouse, but gonna be tough for TAMU from here on out. Fans know they have to protect this lead and not put it back in offense's hands.
Just one late night thought, incredible how Bob Shoop suddenly remembered how to coach defense again and didn't even need to take an internship to put it all back together.
No it won’t, it will be over after two years. Barnes and UT will replace Memphis with UNC, Gonzaga, Kansas or another blue blood program of that ilk while Memphis will be very lucky to replace Tennessee with another top 5 team. Just hurting your program with that kind immaturity.
DJ Burns' mother tells me that
@cwalk8432
and his work with the Tennessee basketball team through FCA was a big part of the family's decision to pick the Vols.
All due respect, and I’ll likely have the Vols in my Final Four, but it’s not in the top 50 of bad seeds in my 25+ years. Further, it’s telling that no one mentions the last No. 2 seed (Villanova) beat Tennessee by 18 on a neutral court.
Watching Shane Beamer froth at the mouth and call South Carolina the ‘best environment in college football’ is comical. Not even best in their state, maybe 4th best in the SEC East depending on how interested Florida fans are in a given year. Sankey should fine him.
Tennessee moves on with an easy 83-49 win over St. Peters. Just like you'd expect any SEC team to do in the same situation. Dalton Knecht with 23 points.
Tennessee looks like the better team after 30 minutes of football, but also Heupel thoroughly out-coaching a two time national championship winning coach
Congrats to The Admiral, named SEC Player of the Week after 29 point day at Memphis in a game where Jordan Bone apparently single handedly intimidated the whole Memphis team with his level of trash talk, or so it seemed based on some people's take aways. (sarcasm font)
Great read here from Josiah James on why he picked the Vols. Fans should read this if they'd like to get a sense about what kind of a person Rick Barnes just added to his program.
Mentioned it earlier, but credit to Tennessee fans, they prevented the Blue Mist from descending on TBA. Extremely minimal Wildcat presence in the building.
