Spent a few hours highlighting the cloth with white. I'm not sure what madness overcame me when I decided to paint this white. It's not as perfect as I'd like it, but I'm still pretty happy. Left is before the highlight, right is after.

Picked up a finalist pin for Magnus!
Inspiring entries this year, I was blown away by the quality of everyone's work.
Had a lovely time, met up with some lovely people, now have a potato quality photo while I recover from long covid fatigue. I'll take some better ones soon.

Oops. I stayed up a bit too late painting yellow feathers. Still a little way to go on the left wing. I'm currently part way through adding the shading in the centre of them.

I was in a bit of a rut about painting so I asked my partner if I could paint one of his Dark Angels. I picked up a regular marine but he grinned and passed me Lazarus.
I had so much fun painting him. It's a beautiful model, and Lazarus is a really interesting character too. 🙂

Games Workshop released information on a new series of books today for Warhammer Crime. Usually I love everything GW do, and I'm looking forward to these books, but I think the timing of their release was bad and I wanted to talk a little about why.

It's been good for me to be off twitter, not worrying about what models look like close up, or mistakes or technique. It's been just me and my hobby.
I was given some Thousand Sons, premade and sprayed too thickly, and I just painted them without caring. And it made me happy.

You know sometimes when you just don't enjoy a certain model? I was looking forward to painting Ahriman for ages but he just ended up being a slog. I blame Tzeentch.

The hourglass pupil fits far too well into the Thousand Sons' lore. Could do with a tiny bit more work but I'm happy

It took me years to paint Ahriman. I bought him for a Golden Demon project I fell out of love with and he sat partly built in box until now.
I kept putting off painting him, until I realised I didn't want to paint him to GD standard, I just wanted to paint him. And so I did. 😊

I'm happier now. I drybrushed on a few more highlights. It now looks more like the flame colour I wanted.
Progress is left to right from the initial airbrushing, too much shading, and today's progress.
Painting is never final, if you're not happy, just keep going.

Maledict is looking a lot less like a Flesh Tearer now.
Freehand chapter symbol for the Angels of Temperance (Discworld inspired Blood Angels successor). I forgot how much I hate edge highlighting, so Maledict might end up being the only one I do. 😆

Today's work. I was given Sassy for my birthday. He came with a Plague Champion or something in the box, which I suppose I can make use of somehow... but I was saving this guy for something special. 🙂
