I'm sorry but, if every single player is playing $155USD+ a year on top of an expansion fee, we'd better be getting updates a few times every year.
It's not really fair to compare a paid mmo to free mmos/games that only make you pay the base price once without reoccurring fees.
I just want to say this:
FFXIV fans have it lucky to be honest.
You get updates every few months.
There are games out there that don't get updates for YEARS and franchises that are STRUGGLING for content.
Expand your horizons a bit, yknow? No shade.

Endwalker wasn't my favorite expansion, but my life changed drastically in such a positive way during it, that it will have a special place in my heart forever.

blue mage can be a dps, a healer, or a tank.
the way you "get your role" is you have to find someone in-game on the class for that role you need, and then you use an ability on them (which doesn't affect them in any way) which gives you your role.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to spend time with your significant other.
I'm clingy as hell, so I totally get it.
But I do think that having personal space to occasionally hang out away from your partner while living together is very healthy for a long-term relationship.
