@TalkinYanks Do the Yankees lose international bonus pool money that they’ve otherwise allotted to the top international prospect next year if they sign Bregman? I’m wondering if that’s the reason. Otherwise, not signing him is a head scratcher.

@_rexic_ @TalkinJake Is Brian Cashman dead? Like what are we doing? It’s like this organization loves stopping 10 yards before the end zone every year during FA and then we overpay at the trade deadline. Meanwhile, we have the Dodgers who are running it up in the offseason.

@KevinGraySports Also watching Saquon, Henry, and Ray Davis thriving in the playoffs, knowing that we didn’t even try to get them either in the draft or in FA… We have the worst GM in sports.

@theyankscenter We also need to rebuild our prospect pool and going above the threshold impedes that more so than the luxury tax $ penalties, though all the penalties add up over time.

@thechief0001 @BarstoolHubbs I think the price is fair but it’s more the draft picks that the Yanks are worried about. We had to cough up a few by signing Fried. Walker would cost more and we basically would not have a 2025 draft. We need picks to develop for future trades or roster fill-ins.

@IGolfDoU @BloodhoundJohny @FrancoisPe41909 @TalkVinTalk @realboshek Also, it’s a short term contract. To put in perspective, Williams FA, Grisham FA, Rizzo buyout, Bellinger (if he opts out), majority of the Hicks contract, and Marlin’s $10m for G means that Yanks will have flexibility next FA to go get a top player like Tucker.

@QuakeH1M @JonHeyman Yankees have $ coming off the books even next season. Hicks payment goes down. Rizzo’s buyout disappears. Marlins payments kick in for G ($10m). And then you have free agents and potential free agents in Williams, Jazz, and Bellinger maybe. Yankees will ok.

@GarysheffieldJr I agree. I’d also rather have better overall hitters than 1 great hitter and 2-3 near automatic outs (Verdugo, 1B, pre-Jazz 3B) in a given lineup.

@SdotLENA @JimmyRandazzo You’re not. This is coming from a fan that loves Juan Soto. This is the better path to a championship. Spread the $ to get a couple of bats with better fielding/running + pitching. We may not have as many dramatic at-bats, but we will be better at winning.

@MLBONFOX @fangraphs Cortes and Schmidt missing. Trade for a bat. Good start to Plan B. Love it.

@Rossi636 @UnhingedPatrick He was gassed. We have to start supporting our guys. It was a costly mistake. But move forward and let’s try to win it. Good news is that Mets and Dodgers have to duke it out if they can make it past a short series in the NL. We have to do our part and win 4 games in a WS.

@UnhingedPatrick Love this guy. I’m willing to ride or die with the players that want to be with the Yanks!

@TomScibelli Gutted as a Yanks fan. That said, going to be interesting to see how the Dodgers and Mets battle it out just to get to the WS.

@JLasagna43 I think we are in better shape than we get credit for. Dominguez, Volpe, Wells, Gil, Jazz balance the ages out - 3 ROY considerations). Plus, Arias, Mayea, and Jones (if not traded and if they pan out). With Soto, it’ll be an excellent young core.

@cujoknows @lakersenjoyer Don’t get why the NFL is the standard for some. The Chiefs/Patriots won most of the championships recently and the cap is often used to hurt players’ salaries, particularly non-QBs. I love MLB as long as they keep the current playoff format to give any playoff team a chance.
