I can't even find non-senior/lead jobs it seems. Just checked EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Blizzard, PlayStation, and Microsoft websites. It's all senior or lead roles for both QA and design. What are all these new grads of 2023 going to do without jobs? This makes no sense.

I'm quickly approaching 3 years of applying to games industry jobs. 3 years of rejections. 3 years of building my own projects. 3 years of receiving emails containing the word "unfortunately." 3 years of not knowing what I'm doing wrong. It's exhausting, and it feels impossible.

I wish more game studios were hiring for juniors AND willing to help relocate them. As far as I know, I'm near 0 game studios and can't afford to just move to a place where I could work on-site. How am I supposed to get into the

Comparisons like this accomplish nothing. The games are wildly different and some of the stuff shown for Cyberpunk 2077 wasn't even there originally. I always see these and think, "but why is this what they chose to cherry-pick?"

Personally, it's a bit of an overstatement and misleading. The game is finished, it just has some issues. If it can be played to completion, it's finished.

As a low-income (no income currently) person, it's often upsetting to see people offer help getting into the games industry for a cost. In some cases (classes), I get it. But other cases make it feel a bit gatekeep-y sometimes.

It'll be 3 years this May, which is like 15-ish days away. To date, *Valve's* rejection was the most encouraging. I do realize writing/narrative are some of the most competitive, but I thought I'd be fine because writing is just about the only thing I'm confident I can do well.

I keep getting rejections (even from retail) and nobody says why. It's annoying because I'm perfectly qualified for those positions. I've literally worked retail off and on since 2018.

If your studio is in a state that's even pale red, I'm very hesitant to apply. I'll need to do PLENTY of research on your policies as a studio and what you're committed to doing to protect your trans employees from hate.

I think at this point, I'm going to start applying to non-games jobs much more frequently than games jobs. The games industry is my goal, but I want to have money before I get there. My priority now is moving out of this state (Pennsylvania) so I can live life as myself.

The saddest and least useful piece of advice I've heard in my search is "it's easy to get a next job after your first game credit!"
To me, that's like saying, "it's easy to do a second surgery after your first!" However, they don't tell you that your first surgery is brain.

Yesterday, I attended a national coming out day event. They had nametags with a spot for pronouns that you were meant to fill in. When I got my nametag, I stared at it for a while, trying to decide what name to put down. I decided to put Vera, since that's me. It felt so good.
