⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT: There is a sinkhole developing on S/B Victoria Ave, near the Walmart shopping center. While there’s no immediate threat to public safety, all S/B lanes south of Ralston St are closed to traffic until further notice. Please avoid the area & take alternate routes.
Officers responded to a subject trespassing in the area of Solano/San Bernardino Ave. The subject described as 3 ft tall 250 lb male covered in fur. Subject located hiding in a backyard. The trespasser is sleeping peacefully and being relocated to a wooded area far north of city.
Please say no to panhandling and yes to charities. Hand outs often feed addictions. Many local groups provide assistance for long term solutions. Let’s work together to make things better in our community!

It's w heavy hearts we announce the passing of retired K9 Yoschi. He went in for emergency surgery & didn't recover as expected. Last night, all VPD K9 handlers, & Yoschi’s best friend, Ofc. Therrien, were w him as he passed away peacefully. Rest easy boy, we have it from here ❤️

Let’s talk about distracted driving! This video is what we call “Follow the Leader." The 1st vehicle entered the intersection on a red light & 6 more followed w/o checking the light themselves. We know you may have lots on your mind, however, we can't skimp out on safe driving.
We are aware of a potential active threat on the Ventura College campus. Nothing has been confirmed at this point. Our officers are on scene and currently investigating. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information to share.

Officer Key, a Trainee and Marine Corps veteran, responded to a subject possibly in distress and locked in a bathroom of a business. He dismantled the door and found the subject overdosing. He retrieved his Naloxone kit and administered a dose bringing the subject back.

Every day brings something different! Off. Zion & Sgt. Sutherland responded to a call of a Sea Lion pup on Harbor Blvd that was in danger of being truck by traffic. They were able to keep it safe until a Marine & Wildlife Rescuer was able to safely relocate him. Great job team!
