@bucky626 @BigRedFishin @6_titles @BluejayMBB There are cities I prefer to NYC for living at this stage of my life (although it was a hell of a lot of fun when I was young). That said, it is one of the world’s great urban centers, and there is really no place like it on the planet. It’s laughable to argue otherwise.

@bucky626 @BigRedFishin @6_titles @BluejayMBB You inferiority complex is off the charts. I’ve spent a lot of time traveling and actually living (not as a person who doesn’t speak the language, and who probably never really assimilates) in a number of very nice places, here and abroad. 1/2

@Cluffalo Even then, it’s cringe. Fine to have friends at work, but it’s just not a good idea, particularly when you are married, to get so close to a work colleague that it could easily turn adulterous. Don’t shit where you eat, and don’t shit on your relationship. An easy rule to follow.

@bucky626 @BigRedFishin @6_titles @BluejayMBB I’ve been back and forth for as long as I’ve been alive, which is north of 40 years. And I’ll be moving out of the country again in the next several years, spending the rest of my life overseas. This is not the flex you think it is.

@Stoney5UCONN @UConnMBB @keybank I hear you, but it’s the only way for him to snap out of his offensive funk. I’ll take a few more bricks if it means he can get it going again.

@AdamFinkelstein He reminds me of Bird, actually (albeit slightly smaller).

@ryancassidycbb Also, he was out of position in the trap. The first thing you learn to do when trapping is to plant your feet and wall up - legs straight, arms up, no reaching in. Otherwise, you are likely to get a whistle. This was properly called even without the general lack of a whistle.

@Random81695451 @aburks41 @ryancassidycbb Have you ever even played basketball? That is not a legal guarding position. The first thing you are taught when you learn how to trap is to stand with your legs straight and your arms straight up in the air. Kalkbrenner did none of those things, which is why he got the whistle.

@Local_fake_jack @Skygoing @ryancassidycbb In no world is it expected for a basketball team to go almost 15 minutes in a half without a foul. I don’t care how good you are defensively or how much your defense emphasizes not fouling. Basketball is too physical a game for that to be possible without some help from the refs.

@ThatRosaryGirl Me too, but if the worst happens, I have zero desire to get back in the dating game after being out of it for well over a decade. It was soul-sucking then, and probably even worse now.

@CollinRugg Probably panicked. Would have been better off keeping it in drive and flooring it.

@EdDaigneault @walkrightier Last I checked, most college students and sports fans are also adults. Stop infantilizing them. There’s also a fine line between your normal garden-variety heckling and straight-up abuse, which no one should have to endure. If you can dish it, you’d better be prepared to take it.

@aburks41 @UConnSooner Absolutely makes sense. Clingan’s sheer presence on the floor altered opponents’ offenses, but he wasn’t the best all-around player on the team. Newton was, though - a fantastic floor general and offensive threat, as well as a great defender.

@Cabbyfromgreene @allbusinesspat These two things are not mutually exclusive. Fans could behave better at games, and Hurley could hold himself above it all, but there’s also a line between garden variety heckling and straight up abuse. I don’t think anyone should have to put up with the latter.

@Cluffalo I’ve seen it with married people too. I think it’s frankly unwise to get too close to anyone who could turn into a romantic relationship at work, opposite sex or otherwise. Don’t shit where you eat, and all that.

@Cabbyfromgreene @allbusinesspat So, what, you think this gives college students license to hurl abuse at people? I think Hurley could rein his behavior in a bit, but this is a ridiculous take.

@bucky626 @BigRedFishin @6_titles @BluejayMBB I highly doubt you’ve seen much more than I have, for the reasons I mentioned in another post. I’m not really the person you want to have a pissing contest with when it comes to having lived and spent time abroad.

@bucky626 @BigRedFishin @6_titles @BluejayMBB Also, before you start making assumptions about where and where I’ve been, I’m a dual citizen of the U.S. and an EU country (and been splitting time since I was in diapers), married to a South American, and have lived abroad in multiple countries. I’ve seen plenty.
