Every Legislative Session comes with its own challenges and surprises, and the start of the 2025 Session has certainly delivered on both. ✅ Congratulations to @GovernorVA and @VADHCD on @NTIAgov approving Virginia's list of BEAD-eligible locations (~133K "unserved" locations)! 🟨 With this approval, Virginia opens the application process - which allows eligible ISPs to submit applications to build broadband to these BEAD-eligible addresses. Applications will be accepted by DHCD until March 1, 2025. Read Governor Youngkin's press release, and the list of BEAD-eligible locations by clicking the link below. 👇

This week @comcast (@Xfinity) announced they will be expanding their broadband network to close to 10,000 homes and businesses in Radford, Virginia! Universal broadband access in Virginia goes beyond deployment - it includes affordability and reliable internet service. According to @NCTAitv, "while home internet prices have remained stable, average broadband speeds have surged more than 40%". Look further into the data below. 👇 #Virginia #Broadband
New Consumer Price Index (CPI) data shows: ➡️ Internet prices fell 1.0% in October compared to September. ➡️ That’s the third month in a row and the fourth out of the last five, that internet prices have fallen compared to previous months. ➡️ On an inflation-adjusted annual basis, internet prices are down 1.5% compared to last (2023) October.

@CitizensFloyd continues to expand their broadband network to unserved areas in Virginia - the latest expansion to unserved Carroll County addresses. Through @USDA Community Connect Program funding, Citizens will be bringing internet to 1,838 residents and 22 businesses, currently unserved by broadband. #Virginia #Broadband #Unserved #Grant
