I’m sure this is good. All it means is there are less bad people watching Doctor Who, a quarter million less progressively. It’s now only a show for the enlightened, a Gideons army of NPCs who meekly accept their programming, unquestioningly.

I fell asleep last night watching “Genesis of the Daleks: Omnibus” and it just occurred to: I think I’m more familiar with the Tom Baker read audio adaptation LP than I am the actual episode! It’s the on that most sticks in my mind, my first introduction to the story!

Little boys, a big DW demographic, don’t want to play w/ girl toys (not that there’s anything wrong w/ that). Replacing their favorite male hero for a female may get you political points, but alienates a key audience w/out girls picking up the slack. That doesn’t help toy sales.

Only a few times in the classic Who I felt hit over the head with a ham-fisted msg, & the story was usually weak.(unlike Nu Who, where it was standard). If you’re going to do a msg in sci-fi, subtlety & applicability are key. Let people make the connections, don’t spell it out.
