The area around Falkirk is heavily reliant on the jobs that Grangemouth both directly and indirectly provides for the community. The race to net zero cannot lay to waste communities like Thatcher did in steel making & coal mining communities in the 80s & 90s. There must be a just transition led by the workers for the benefit of the community. That transition needs investment, strategy & vision from both governments. We can't see any investment proposed We haven't seen a credible strategy The vision is as clear as day; transition Grangemouth into a Sustainable Aviation Fuel site to meet burgeoning demand over coming decades.

Let’s be clear, with a few notable exceptions, politicians of all colours have failed the workers at Grangemouth - the U.K. and Scottish Governments certainly have. Now is the time for leadership, not warm words - it’s time to stand up to Petroineos in the national interest.
