Hate to bring up controversial topics, but surely us primary teachers can settle this with phonics? It’s clearly an o_e split digraph making it the /ow/ sound!! Not accepting ‘well words like gone make /o/ because they’re exceptions and they’re wrong.

I was VERY tempted to buy lots of books for school today as the children’s section at 66 books was incredible. However, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to stop, so I limited it to these as I already have a couple and they’re SO good in our SEN class!

@hollieteaches There was no queue when we got there! We were straight in the marquee. Got there at 8, was let in at 8.15! Soooo worth it. First 3 baskets closest to me are ours - came to £105 in total with membership!

@akelahall I did for a long while, but the series I’ve read recently have all been 800/900 pages and I can’t be doing with that in bed! I hate the spines creasing as well😂
