In college I was just about always the only black person in class. I decided to apply to medschool when I realized I was tutoring all these pre meds who are traditionally accepted. Self studied 4 MCAT. Got in, and turned out I was 1 of 2 black people. No one’s stealing seats.

Today is the anniversary of the Stonewall Inn riot, a turning point in the fight for LGBT rights. I see echoes of the oppression that made a riot inevitable in the anti trans bills being proposed in legislative chambers across the country. History will repeat unless we act.

I bet you had no idea that the modern emergency medical system and the first EMT’s were pioneering Black men from Pittsburgh who saved lives in more ways than one. This is the story of Freedom House. https://t.co/oyZeq7C1bA

The last few days reminded me of this 2021 @nytimes piece featuring a study showing that Black people are more exposed to air pollution from every type of source, including agriculture, vehicles, and even restaurants, than any other group. https://t.co/puXdOKmfoZ

As the national week of action to #KeepMasksinHealthcare ends, thank you to everyone still wearing a mask to keep themselves & others safe. You help make it possible for people at increased risk of #COVID19 to access healthcare. The week may be over, but the action is not.

In case you missed it: Women are less likely to be credited for their scientific contributions than men. It’s true across multiple fields & at all stages, with important repercussions for career progress. #WomenInSTEM #WomenInMedicine #MedTwitter https://t.co/6LsW1sicNJ
