If ur income is only upto 12 lakh then only it is nil. If it is more than 12 lakh then u need to pay tax for amount more than 4 lakh. If a person earning 11.99 lakh and another earning 12.01 lakh. 11.99 lakhs = no tax 12.01 = 5% of 4 lakhs + 10% of 4 lakhs = 60k approx tax
