Bleak that what liberals have learned from the election is to be really condescending to people who don't pull the lever instead of that they shouldn't stake everything on the trolley problem.

@Nflou90 @50ShadesOfEndo @DroidLiberator I remember you from another argument way back, you hadn’t even read critique of the Gotha programme or Gundrisse, so I’m not going to put stock in your opinions of historiography. Decisions and beliefs of people mattering is not great man theory.

@50ShadesOfEndo @DroidLiberator Because he had an extremely idealistic view of Lenin for the most part, it all boils down to his personal view about leadership. Can read about this in Collapse.

@DroidLiberator @50ShadesOfEndo Was a specific response to Jonas' claim that it's unmaterialist to assign blame to Gorbachev for the dissolution of the USSR and that material factors must have been paramount. Serious academic studies in recent years have shown Gorbachev's role was paramount.

@BBabyybird @lisakeb007 @Artemisfornow One of the reasons for the ban is that the number of feral and domestic cats roaming free is putting severe pressure on endangered wildcats in Scotland because the pets are outcompeting them due to numbers and receiving care from humans.

@PVPrigo The issue is not just the seaworthiness of the ships but the size of the cargo able to be carried, the journey into the western ocean would consist of most of the circumference of the globe with no ports of call along the way. You would run out of supplies.

@PVPrigo Would someone eventually have made the same decision to sail west instead of East? Of course, eventually sailing capabilities would have reached the point that someone would have tried to find the sea route to the orient. It would have not been in 1492.
