Every destroyed home, every taken life, every air raid siren – these are the steps Russia takes to keep waging its war. At least 12 people were killed, and over 20 people were injured, including kids, in a single night. Putin must be held accountable for his ongoing aggression. The world must stand more united and decisive than ever in its actions to increase pressure on Russia’s war machine.

Russia, a partner in the Axis of Evil alongside Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah, continues to use Iranian weapons to attack innocent civilians. This time, it was the city of Sumy that suffered an attack by the "Shahed 136" drone, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuries to nine others, including a child. This is a horrifying tragedy, a heinous crime committed by Russia. The world must not relent in applying pressure on Russia for these acts of terror. We are grateful to all the leaders who continue to voice their support for Ukraine and its citizens.

I spoke with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu @netanyahu. I told him about my participation in the events marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and conveyed my condolences to the Prime Minister and the people of Israel regarding the tragedy of the Holocaust. I welcomed the beginning of the release of hostages, emphasizing the importance of people returning home and reuniting with their families, and expressed hope for the swift release of all remaining hostages. It is crucial to ensure a reliable and lasting peace, so that people can live in safety and security. We also discussed maintaining close contact with partners, particularly the United States and President Trump. We addressed current bilateral matters and agreed to maintain close contact in the near future.

The release of hostages after many months of war between Israel and Hamas is a deeply meaningful moment. Seeing families reunited, and knowing the tears of relief and joy it brings, is something we can all connect with. As Ukrainians, we know the pain of separation and hope of bringing loved ones back home. The path to lasting peace and dignity for all people is still long and challenging, but we hope for further progress toward security, stability, and normal life in the entire Middle East. Ukraine wishes for peace, justice, and reliable security guarantees for all nations, just as we continue to fight for them ourselves.

Russia shows no sign of conceding and continues its terror with full force. Over the weekend, they struck both Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and the city of Kryvyi Rih, leaving seven people dead and many more wounded, as well as causing extensive damage to buildings and public infrastructure. Russian brutality persists unchecked, and the Western world must unite to put an end to this terror!

Both nations are confronting a common enemy - the totalitarian terrorist regimes of the axis of evil. We sincerely hope that through joint efforts we will restore the fundamental principles of international law, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and repel the tyrannies of modern times. Today, we mark both Christmas and the beginning of Hanukkah. It is very good that in Ukraine we can celebrate such holidays with respect for each other, communicate, live together and wish different people the same victory—the victory of light over darkness. And today, together with the rabbis of Ukraine, I lit Hanukkah candles. This particular Hanukkah menorah was presented to me by President of Argentina Javier Milei during his inauguration last December. I congratulate the Jewish community on this holiday. I wish Jewish families peace, joy, and a prosperous future. May the Hanukkiah shine in every home, granting strength, filling hearts with new hopes, and deepening faith in the power of truth and justice
