With all the love Jamal Shead is getting in national media (about time just saying) it’s hard to not keep coming back to this moment after a heartbreaking loss to Alabama in 2021. Jamal Shead might be my favorite UH athlete of all time

Imagine being told in 2014 that one day:
◦we’d be playing a midweek game at 8 PM in a sold out arena
◦Beautiful basketball facilities
◦ranked
#1
in the nation
◦Move to the Big 12 on the horizon
This is Houston Cougars Basketball

Appreciation post for
@Doug_Belk
◦First year as defensive coordinator
◦Had to find 3 different Cornerback coaches in the spring due to other job opportunities
◦Brought back the 3rd Ward Defense mentality
◦6th in nation for total defense & 1st in 3rd down conversion
This is year 5. I am so sick of spending thousands of my hard earned dollars for no development from this program. We still don’t have any identity on offense, we lack discipline, there’s no connection between the program and fans… when does it end
@CPezman
First Big 12 win in women’s soccer = WVU
First Big 12 win in women’s volleyball = WVU
First Big 12 win in football = WVU
First Big 12 team we play in Men’s basketball? WVU
No one expected a 12-2 season with a top 25 ranking, AAC championship appearance, and a bowl win over a SEC team.
We are soon to be members of the Big 12 conference which paid off with one of the best recruiting classes we’ve had lately.. DJ PLAY WOMP WOMP

I’m so damn proud of this team and these seniors. What a special season this is and it’s not done yet
#ForTheCity
When the SWC dissolved, UH was left behind to try and do their best wandering C-USA & The AAC. UH managed to win numerous conference championships across all sports, NY6 , Final 4, top program in T&F, etc. while on a shoestring budget.
At midnight UH will return to a “P5” status
This season is FAR from over, but games like today makes me appreciate how far UH basketball has come under the Sampson’s. They’ve literally built something truly magical at UH from scratch basically.

Maybe the reason Tech fans are always talking 💩 is because as a 25 year member of the Big 12, they’ll have the same amount of Big 12 football championships as the 4 new schools will have starting July 1st: 0
Clayton Tune appreciation post: Nothing about your career has been “normal” (thrust into playing late 2018, redshirt drama in 2019, covid 2020) but damn have you not stayed the course and played your ass off for UH. Coog nation appreciates you & you deserve to go out with a win.
“Don’t give them credibility. I’ve always said if I could get the top 30 players that came out of Houston every year, I’d play for the national championship every year."- Former OU Coach Barry Switzer on why he wouldn’t want UH in the Big 12

@Thejshead
's leadership is one of our greatest strengths. He has grown from a young freshman on a Final Four team to being one of the pillars and greatest leaders our program has ever had."
Simply one of the best in 🔴 ⚪️... Thank you #⃣1⃣!

Thread: Going to UH BB then UH FB yesterday has me thinking- What culture is there for football? The entire gameday atmosphere @ TDECU feels like we’re just going through the motions from the concessions to the fan energy to the play on the field…
In case you weren’t aware for some reason, the Coogs are playing in San Antonio on Thursday in the Sweet 16. ~ 3 hour road trip from Houston. BE THERE

Going into the Big 12 I thought Texas Tech would be the team I’d root for in games that don’t affect UH, but hats off to Iowa State fans - y’all are cool as hell and quickly made Iowa st my favorite conference teams to root for besides UH
Quite a week for UH in the national spotlight: From Dana’s “screw them” comments regarding UT & A&M to UH debuting “Luv ya Blue” uniforms.

New Big 12 has been making a statement in most of its bowl games:
◦UCF beat Florida 29-17
◦Houston beat Auburn 17-13
◦Texas Tech beat Miss St 34-7
◦Ok St beat Notre Dame 37-35
◦Baylor beat Ole Miss 21-7
◦K state currently beating LSU 21-0

Kansas is handed their third loss in Big 12 play to Iowa State who currently sits at 5-2 in conference. Kansas continues to catch karma after all the shit talking they’ve done about UH
Thank you Iowa State for the help by the way!

Houston is handed their first loss to Iowa State who will finish around the middle to top half of the Big12. They finally played someone decent and lost.
Thank you Iowa State for the help by the way!

Any starting combination of Shead, Sharp, Cryer, Arceneaux, Wilson, R. Walker, Francis, & Roberts is crazy to thing about…
That’s not even including the incoming freshmen Tugler, McFarland, Jefferson, & Lath.
FOR THE WHOLE DAMN CITY
#ForTheCity
What actual shit luck is this though…. I’m okay with losing close hard fought games like Iowa st & TCU. But the fact one of the best players in UH history had to get severely hurt and watch from the bench. What fucking curse is on Houston Sports
“I wanted to go somewhere where the culture was already established and players I can win with… I didn’t want to take it easy. I wanted to go the path less chosen and come here and boost my game and get better.”-

This is put up or shut up time for everyone. From the fans to top of the food chain @ UH.
◦7 home games
◦7 opponents from Texas
◦Only leave the state of Texas twice
We need to pack TDECU and create that pride for playing for H-Town

Those of you that live in Houston but weren’t at the game, why? Outside of personal reasons: family events, job, etc….. We need to show up better... Full stadiums impact $$, recruiting, atmosphere, home field advantage, etc…

Hands down

has the softest/whiniest fanbase in all of college athletics. They cope so hard & constantly move goal posts to fit whatever stupid narrative they’re whining about to try and justify constantly underperforming besides having all the resources available to them
Houston announces home-and-home football series with Oklahoma.

I’m so proud to be a Coog. In 2021 we’ve got to see our men’s basketball team play in the final 4 & our football team play for the AAC Championship.

Houston coach Dana Holgorsen: “I sensed it Wednesday that it meant more to them than it did to us. I tried to get our attention Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and today. First half was unacceptable.”
I’ve said it and I’ll keep saying it. I remember being ecstatic to even be mentioned to play in March Madness. What the Sampson family have done since they arrived at UH is something magical
#ForTheCity
I can't remember a college football program ever getting absolutely nuked the way Oklahoma has over the last 12 hours or so. So much torn to the ground.
Big 12 executives met Thursday to approve the application of Arizona as a 14th member, sources tell

, paving the way for the Wildcats to enter the conference. It is another step in UA’s path to join. The final step would be approval from its Board of Regents.
Well this was fun today. Gotta end the night saying one nice thing: I respect Texas Tech for always having the cojones to constantly play UH in sports unlike other schools in Texas…
