As an outsider to religious beliefs and the history of the secular state, I beg to differ on ideas such as chastity. But I think one of the clever things about Pizan, who is a Christian, is that she makes it possible for people who don't understand this to find resonance.

What I understand her to mean is that if God had a plan for Eve's fall, then that fall should not be defined as evil, but rather as the starting point for mankind to realize their potential. Pisan's defense of women even begins with a defense of mythological figures.

This segment, where she and the goddess talk about secular comments about Eve and Mary, and Pisan can't understand why she, as a woman herself, would feel resentment about being a woman, extends to an interesting new interpretation.
