@AaronJFentress This is the last time that’s going to be true. This summer too many guys are on expiring deals. Grant isn’t getting any young or better, and fans aren’t going to be excited to see the team run it back. I’m not mad at this deadline, but the Cronin deadline is approaching.

@PacChatNetwork Yeah I’d say unless they’re getting an amazing media deal then you’ve gotta have a legit eastern wing of full members or at least some non-football members to ease the travel for those sports.

@nickdaschel Regionality hasn’t benefited the PAC or the MW. Refusing to expand eastward twice is part of what led to the PAC’s collapse. Not saying TxSt is obviously more valuable, just that the regionality argument isn’t very convincing, especially if you have to take Nevada as well.

@ImmaculateView TxSt on their own would be conservative, but they could also be a key step to much more aggressive moves.

@ImmaculateView Yeah figured so, I just want some representation on ESPN and some sort of easy to manage hub if the media deal is divided so many different ways. Not sure how possible that is, just hopeful for a simplified streaming option for all games as someone without cable.

@DavidMacKayNBA Add get rid of Rob before he breaks down and I’m in 100% agreement. Ayton at least expires next year though, so I’m not all that worried about if they can’t move him.

@joesimonssays The team has some vet talent and the young guards and Toumani are showing out well. Really excited to see less of the vets though, absolutely hate the starter heavy 7-8 man rotation we’re running.

@PinwheelEmpire Definitely not the play in. So little chance of even making it, if they did they’d be led by guys who won’t be here long, they’d be risking losing their 1st, and this team is nowhere near legitimately competing.

@tiger_then @ImmaculateView I didn’t want to get into deep speculation on money since that’s unknown, I just think that “get to 8, add more in ‘27” scenario is interesting, especially if the court case goes well for the PAC. Definitely not interested in any more western schools though imo.

@DavidMacKayNBA i fully expect at least one of those guy to be gone soon and the rest to be shut down. I think this summer is the absolute breaking point with those guys. If we can’t get off of Grant, Ant and Rob by the summer then idk what’s going on with the FO.

@ImmaculateView I get your points and even if I don’t agree with the voting power thing completely, I do think they’re good, we just have different assumptions. I’m prepared for disappointment, I just think TxSt as an 8th member unlocks a new, more profitable timeline that’s worth mentioning.

@ImmaculateView Gotcha, yeah I see that argument but I also think TxSt gets legitimized whether UNT/UTSA helps that or not. In my mind the primary targets are Memphis and Tulane anyway, so the other TX schools may have to make a reactive choice to that.

@ImmaculateView No $17mil cheaper, as in 27 vs 10 in fees. And yeah if you’re thinking UNT/USTA looks at TxSt with hostility and your Big East theory will make big $ and the PAC not, then I get the hesitation. I’m just saying there’s a path to both cheaper fees and more money for the PAC/AAC.

@ImmaculateView Cheaper exit fees by like $17mil because they won’t have to join in ‘26, plus giving time for the MW court case to play out and possibly free up money. Texas is big enough to justify multiple schools in one conference, especially in a PAC that would need travel partners.

@TBM_JY @pac12 @TxStateBobcats Between that and the “a combined pac/mw would make $12mil per team” stuff that’s floating around I’m just lost on how illogical these rumors have been this week.
