‼️ We have examined the criminal cases of three protest participants: Giorgi Akhobadze, Nikoloz Katsia, and Anton Chechin. In all of these cases, there is a well-founded suspicion that drugs were planted on them as a means of punishment for their participation in the protests. Find out more about the common patterns in these cases:

On February 3, the Georgian Dream parliament began discussing authoritarian regulations aimed at restricting freedom of assembly and expression. These changes threaten fundamental human rights and serve to suppress ongoing protests and intimidate demonstrators. 🔹 Key changes and their impact on citizens' rights: 📌 60-day imprisonment for criticizing the government on social media 📌 60-day imprisonment and a 6,000 GEL fine for "insulting" political figures 📌 Up to 3 years in prison for calls to violence 📌 Severe restrictions on protests – banning demonstrations in closed spaces without permission 📌 Expanded police powers – personal searches without witnesses 📌 Ban on temporary structures (tents, stages) at protests 📌 Anyone involved in organizing protests could be considered an official organizer 📌 Mandatory notification for spontaneous gatherings 📌 Up to 6 years in prison for threats against political figures These repressive measures violate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Georgian Constitution, and the European Convention on Human Rights. The government is attempting to restrict all forms of protest and silence public dissent. Read more:

Saba Skhitaridze has been unlawfully imprisoned for two months. He is accused of attacking a police officer, but the case is filled with contradictions, fabricated evidence, and clear signs of political persecution by the authorities. 📌 Who is Saba? Saba Skhvitaridze is a member of the opposition party Akhali, a former civil activist, and a human rights defender. He actively participated in protests against the “Russian Law” and was engaged in student movements. 🛑 The prosecution’s testimonies are identical word-for-word—clear fabrication. 🛑 The officers who accused him were in civilian clothing, making identification impossible. 🛑 Evidence proves that Saba was at a completely different location during the incident. 🛑 He was subjected to violence during his arrest and later endured physical and psychological pressure in police custody. 🔗 Read more:

In December 2024, following U.S. financial sanctions, Bidzina Ivanishvili began transferring his offshore assets to Georgia. As of today, the Ivanishvili family has registered eight new joint-stock companies in Georgia. They have transferred 12 companies from offshore entities to Georgian ones, effectively clearing 4 offshore companies in the process. This re-registration process has accelerated in recent days. It is likely that by the end of this process, the Ivanishvili family will have fully transferred their Georgian companies from offshore jurisdictions. The re-registered companies hold significant charter capital. As of today, their total subscribed capital amounts to 163,187,800 GEL. It is highly likely that during this transfer process, the Ivanishvili family is benefiting from tax benefits introduced by the so-called "Offshore Law”, adopted in the spring of 2024. Transparency International Georgia continues to monitor Bidzina Ivanishvili’s companies and how he seeks to protect his assets from sanctions. Read more:

In cases concerning administrative violations under the accusation of so-called “illegal street blockades,” numerous irregularities have been identified: •The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) presents evidence in court that fails to establish: •The exact time when the alleged violation occurred; •Whether the accused arrived at the protest site before or after the street was blocked; •The criteria for selecting specific individuals from among the protest participants to issue fines. Missing Documentation: •Documents reflecting actions taken to obtain evidence for identifying the specific individuals (e.g., documentation of how or through which legal means the state obtained the evidence); •The basis for initiating the administrative proceedings. It is suspected that the state improperly processes personal data in excessive amounts and in violation of procedures. From the police officer’s testimony, it was revealed that: •They requested and received video recordings for the entire day from the 112 database, yet no request documents are included in the case files; •They used facial recognition software but could not specify which software was used or what legal act regulates its use; •They processed a large amount of personal data but could not indicate the procedure for such processing; •They failed to clarify whether unnecessary information was destroyed or remains stored with them or other MIA staff. Court Fines: Despite the lack of evidence, the court imposes fines of 500 GEL on activists for incidents in November-December and 5,000 GEL for incidents in January. The individuals involved in these cases are as follows:

Irakli Rukhadze, the owner of the Georgian Dream’s propaganda media outlet Imedi, has once again attacked Transparency International Georgia, labeling it as the "main problem" for the country. This explains why his media outlet has been involved in disinformation and smear campaigns against TI Georgia and its Executive Director for many years. Rukhadze has also spread false information, claiming that TI Georgia and other civil society organizations have a "special status" that exempts them from paying taxes. Transparency International Georgia fully complies with tax regulations and operates transparently.
