Okay starting a thread of the books I’ve read in 2024 to hold myself accountable about reading every day! First up The Good Daughters by Joyce Maynard. 2.5/5 stars. Look I figured out the story about two chapters in and then there was incest and yeah no… not for me.
You know for a very brief second you can see the panic in Penelope’s face as Colin is exiting the carriage, that he was just going to turn his back on her and leave her there. Like all of her insecurities about whether he’d been truthful or just wanted to be naughty rose up.
You know what? Props to Penelope for keeping her shit together for literal years as she pined over Colin. Colin figured out his feelings and was at the absolute end of the rope of his sanity within weeks. Imagine the shell of the man he would have become if she had rejected him.
I found the blocking of this moment fascinating. Colin is separate from the chaos and seems impatient with their antics, especially Benedict acting like a child fighting over a macaron. He seems mature and ready to be in his own home of peace with Penelope. I loved the subtlety.
This may be toxic of me to admit but I found Colin putting Eloise in her place very hot. (Though I wonder where he was running to, like sir was this your practice run for leaping into Pen’s personal carriage…)
This moment doesn't get enough love. Colin tries to be formal about for the ton but the minute he looks at her he can't even pretend that calling her "Ms Featherington" is at all natural to him and he just blurts out that "Pen" to all representing how well he knows her.
Luke Newton not being as active on social media as Nicola Coughlan isn’t a sign of some imbalance in friendship. Because you know what he did in real life? Took time to buy a vintage camera for her birthday that she used to take/post pictures. That’s the kind of friend I want.
@notcapnamerica
Not me innocently watching this and then recognizing my friend from high school right in the middle of it. Let me message her on Facebook and get the tea about Aunt Julie. 😂😂😂

Okay peeps I did my best dodging people and trains, from across the platform to standing right in front of it. This is as good as these versions are going to get! Enjoy some HD

Nicola/Luke and everyone else… subway ads.
Outside of the carriage scene, I think this is my fave scene in Part 1. The friends to lovers of it all. Reminiscing on their meet cute while walking and talking, natural flirting, Rae’s side eye, knowing they’ll be most comfortable in the world with each other. It has my heart!
You know the best part of sad boy Colin watching Penelope dance with someone else? He went from winking at/kissing the hand of and flirting with all the debutantes two episodes earlier and now he can’t even look at anyone else much less participate. He is a glass case of emotion.
I’m sorry but Violet Bridgerton having to take hold of the trellis and her jaw literally going slack at seeing Colin will never not make LOL. She really said that’s my not so baby boy!
@notcapnamerica
*Update! Aunt Julie is apparently just a very unassuming person until she comes out with wisecracks or crazy antics out of nowhere, then goes back to being super normal like nothing happened. Also my friend was miffed her hair was not camera ready. 😭
The fact that Luke Newton is able to convey how uncomfortable Colin feels being told that he walks back into society with such ease because it’s so far from his truth in a while also conveying how sad he is that Penelope is that hard on herself in a split second is 👩🍳💕 work.
@jaketapper
The fact that the President needs this basic fact explained to him over and over and his supporters still insist Pence can do this just shows what a lack of civics education is doing to this country. And the complete cycle of stupidity between Trump and Trumpsters.
I hadn’t seen Nicola’s answer to what the most swoonworthy moment in Bridgerton has been, only their deranged response to Luke saying it was Penelope licking the cream off her fingers. 😂 But this is very sweet!

I don’t know if I’m more embarrassed by you or your father. Also if you want to run a state you should probably learn the difference between the judicial branch and the justice department Andy.
Just realized Nicola’s S4 table read placard will now read “Penelope Bridgerton” instead of “Penelope Featherington” and match Luke’s a la this one and if either of them post a picture of it I might actually cry.
You know what though? It makes sense that Colin’s advice for finding her a match is basically be like every other girl in the ton because that’s what he’s trying to do himself when he returns, be like every other guy but it takes being themselves to find themselves.

@JaneMayerNYer
No one can take away her accomplishments but it’s just a natural fact of life that we start to decline as we age. It’s time for her to exit gracefully and take pride in what she’s done.

It bothers me so much that the crowd who don’t want to show proof of vaccination because medical information is private are forcing women to share traumatic stories like this publicly to try to appeal to their non-existent conscience. And to get them to agree to bodily autonomy.
This, for me, is what makes Bridgerton’s S3 such a success. Because they had some serious competition and still blew all of them out of the water with record numbers. Don’t let anyone ever try to fool you into thinking S3 wasn’t anything but a massive success thanks to Polin.
@ktbenner
It’s actually psychotic to me that he has to rush to get out as much testimony as he can because he could be silenced by a lawsuit. Like an actual coup could still be being planned and we’re just supposed to say oh well the law says you can’t talk.
@MacFarlaneNews
I have so many questions... could he not live with his father? What kind of security allows someone to squat in the Capitol for weeks? Couldn't they get him a hotel room? How did no one notice some guy living in the basement of the Capitol? What in the actual fuck?
The fact that to the rest of the congregation this is Polin’s first kiss but to them they’re just relieved to finally publicly kiss and none of them know Little Lord Featherington is already there and going to take up that space where their hands join soon enough? 🥹🥹🥹
People misuse gaslighting for lying. What is happening to Bowie Jane is actually a perfect example of gaslighting. Making her feel like she was wrong or bad or crazy for something she had every right to feel bad about.

@jiveDurkey
Listen I’m not gonna judge her for this, in particular, but I will judge her for her hella disrespectful behavior and her unhinged conspiracy theories!
If the season is about coming out of the shadows and into the light... then of course, OF COURSE, their first kiss before they are fully on the same page would happen in moonlight which is half shadow/half light. My god it seems so obvious now but we were blinded by overthinking.
The subtle way she will always defend this man from the irrational hate he gets is so appreciated by me. Just remember every time you insult him on, especially on her behalf, she hates you, as she should.
@JennaEllisEsq
Article II adopted an amendment that you can hold a partisan meeting in a hotel with no sworn legally binding testimony and call it a hearing? Whew. I must have slept on that!
@nosmokenomore
I’m sorry didn’t this woman, for years, get to dictate that she kept her disgusting married boyfriend offscreen for years and people had to sign NDAs about him?
@CBSBigBrother
Honestly I am very grateful for the diversity but the fact that the oldest cast member is 40 and and then 32 is the next oldest and 13 people are in their 20s is absolutely ridiculous.
Don’t ask me why but this is such a Penelope is about 6 months pregnant and really wants Colin to understand the sacrifices she’s making by carrying his big ass baby so he better give her the last biscuit if he knows what’s good for him pose.

@carlquintanilla
Um not to point out the obvious but he admitted the other day his own politics trumped the good of the country because he can't deal with the fallout of losing the filibuster, aka being voted out. So you know, he can sit down and be quiet.
If indeed Nicola Coughlan is attending the

tonight the fact that she’s posting so many stories about Rafah on her Instagram knowing so many people will be looking up her IG tonight is so incredible of her and so damned smart.
You know what Polin underrated moment I loved so much? The subtle smirk Colin has both before and after he tells Penelope to “lie down.” I see you son. I tried to enhance the visuals to show you all since it’s very clear on the television but not as much on the phone.
I love this! During press for Zooey Deschanel’s new movie one of the reporters told her about Polin being inspired by Jess/Nick’s first kiss in this season of Bridgerton!
@TheDerekFrazier
You’re so unbothered that your first tweet is to tell us how unbothered you are. Should have know though. You spent the summer projecting your issues onto others. BB is not therapy and I hope you use some of that money to work them out.
How absolutely repulsive that
@TheSpectator
allowed this so blatantly fatphobic and disgusting article to be published.
@realzoestrimpel
can fuck all the way off.
The fictional character of Penelope has more understanding and grace for Colin’s understandable reaction of hurt and needing to process than some Polin fans do. She never doubts he loves her, she understands it’s because he loves her he’s so torn up. That’s why I love them both.

For months you argued Covid was no big deal and now you’re arguing that vaccines aren’t effective. So which is it? Covid is real and vaccines are useless and both cause hospitalizations or Covid isn’t real and no need for vaccines? Do you just want people to die at this point?
Can we discuss this casting call someone found and just sent me instead of fic? Because this sounds a lot like Polin’s Little Lord Featherington to me…
I’m seeing people say this is whitewashing and like… can’t it just be that Penelope has learned something after losing her best friend over LW and is trying to do better with the column? Like isn’t that what people wanted from her?

Meanwhile in NY they just tased black man for giving them lip and tried to say it was because he evaded a subway fare he didn’t evade.
Let me tell you, TikTok’s like this are so validating after being in the Polin trenches for two years and in the recent “it’s all PR” trenches. Like yes Karen, that’s what PR is for, to entice people to watch. But nature is healing. User: @ thfriscobay

That stood out to me, they're basically asking with SB-8 to enshrine vigilante justice as a viable solution to get around the Constitution and that would pretty much make the Constitution null and void. Why have laws at all?
