If today me would have showed up in a time machine in 1999 and told 1999 me, "23 years from now, you'll see Corey Koskie hit a HR off Mike Kingery's kid in a town called 'Dundas to give his own kid a 2-1 lead." I'd have called the cops on myself. 🤯
The MLB gimmick thing is neat.
If it gets you excited about rural baseball scenery, turn off your TV this weekend and find the field of dreams right in your back yard.
We're here to advise.
After winning yesterday, my guy rode an unsaddled white stallion back to Buckman, put a new transmission into his '68 Mustang, & won a barfight against six guys, then got up before dawn to split 5 cords of wood & eat 37 pancakes. Still made it back to coach 3rd.
Folks: covid is gonna tank the season if we don't start taking it seriously. Spread out a bit, & exercise the smallest amt of caution. Folks wanting it to not be real, while numbers jump & teams have to suspend. I want to see a championship this fall. Be smart. Please. ⚾🍻
They laughed at the end of the November game when we said, "See you at the December game," but we weren't joking. Not ruling out January.
#thestateofbaseball
This is how amazing amateur baseball is in MN: this is a field of ballparks I just threw together that didn't make the cut for the ballpark bracket everybody's excited about. Enough for a full 64-team (MN)IT tournament. And I'm sure there are still snubs!
#thestateofbaseball
Huge congratulations to
@SobieskiSkis
on winning the state title in one of the best ballgames I've ever seen. Big clink of the beer can to
@WatertownDevils
on a hell of a season and game. Townball is freaking awesome.

Lions Field in Waconia wasn't much of anything a few years ago, now a gem. A testament to what's possible when folks in a community decide they're gonna have nice things, formulate a plan, & come together to make it happen. Congrats

Okay... I've promised this before, but after fielding about 300 questions on this topic over the weekend, I'm announcing that there will definitely be an updated reprint of our "State of Baseball" t-shirts over the winter. Be on the lookout.
Over the past few years, a lot of people have been like, "Have you been to Paynesville? That park is great " And I've been like, "No, not yet, but I'll have to check it out."
To those people: you spoke the truth.
"It's surprising that Buxton's doing as well as he is."
Doug Mientkiewicz, who was a manager in the Twins minor league system, says they messed up developing Byron Buxton.

The fact that you're taking this moment to double-down on umpire harassment says a lot about why umps are quitting. What is this, 16U softball? Good luck playing with no ump.
I'm not a pusher of absurd conspiracies, and this pandemic is very real. That being said, based on what we know about viral dosages and exposure risks, it is not unreasonable to believe that outdoor, open-air baseball can safely be played by adults with small modifications.
After 16+ years in the bush leagues, Maybelle got called up to the Cosmic All-Stars today. We'll miss her on our adventures, but now she's in a place where it's always a sunny summer day with lush green grass and a great ballgame. Godspeed, trusty companion.
If you're driving down 212 and see the lights on at Chaska Sunset Park, don't call the cops.
@VoyageursTCMABL
and
@Cannons35Fed
are playing baseball in December tonight
I'm seeing these out regularly in the wild and I dislike them even more in person. Looks like a hat for a soccer team or a parking ramp security company.
What a privilege it was to get a little IF/OF in with a handful of the players from the Balaing team today. Many couldn't join us because they were in school. Honestly impressed with the talent. Dropped off a bunch of old gloves and decent balls. Wish I could've done more.
Got some footage of a few future baseball stars in Kampong Thom, Cambodia showing off their Shakopee Sabers gear, compliments of
@tschlepe
. The gear and $ folks have donated growing baseball. And we're just getting started. Thanks!
... And the
@jordanbrewers
are your 2019 state champs. Not sure when Buss is getting shaved, but if there's any birds in the area, there may be some great nest material available soon.

@MinnBaseball
Gotta stop reading tweets by Twins fans. Absolutely delusional about Arraez's value.
You'd think the guy hit .375/.440/.550 reading these guys' rants.
He's one of the few players on the team I enjoyed watching, and I'm sad to see him go, but let's get real.
With the possibility of a significantly delayed season, we're looking into the possibility of a podcast series where we drink beers and candidly talk baseball (from a safe distance) with some of our townball friends. Who should be on the roster?
New Class B/C point system:
•C teams: "This is a crime!"
•B teams: "This is a travesty!"
•A teams: "I wish they'd chalk the lines."
•All other states: "MN amateur ball is great!"
Love & appreciate it, folks.
Looking forward to a great '19!
Happy New Year, everyone! ⚾🍻
Delano A’s lose a hard fought 1-0 contest to the Bluffton Braves in the state quarterfinals. 30 minutes after the tough loss, the players were back volunteering in the burger stand and taking care of the field between games!

Kent Hrbek, one of the most gracious hosts in baseball history. Playing for his hometown team, crosses the competition line and courageously saves Ron Gant from tumbling precariously onto his face. Still today
@Braves
fans are ungrateful for his heroics.
As we approach Thanksgiving, we have a lot to be thanksful for. Let's start by remembering this year's incredible State Tourney and some of the beautiful manes that were showcased on the diamonds. I present the first four members of our TBT All-Flow Tournament Team.
@MinnBaseball
The TBT cap collection keeps growing. Thanks to all the clubs who've kindly tossed me a lid when we drop into your house. Still so many places we haven't made it to, but we'll get there soon enough. Good luck in the postseason, everyone.
Parade Stadium has arguably the best ballpark vista in the state.
@MplsParkBoard
needs to outfit it with a proper grandstand, bathrooms, concessions, and consistent adequate maintenance.
@pnashbaseball
should have 200+ fans every game day.
So sick of half my Twitter feed being chowderhead sports bruhs using video of called MLB strikes that may have missed by a half inch as grounds for an obnoxious rant about the need for robot umpires. Go play in your slowpitch league and stop pretending to love baseball.
The baseball is 20% of what makes townball great. The amazing, unique ballparks & communities that support them are 30%. The most important part of the equation is the network of folks that become your friends. Players, wives, umps, managers, PA guys, etc... What a family. 🍻
Thanks to my good friend
@TownBallTuesday
and his lady Sophie for a great time
@fdm2022
state championship game today in Faribault. What a great way to end the summer with my wife, two good friends and some baseball.
Congrats to
@Fairmontmartins
, your 2020
@MinnBaseball
Class C State Champs. They played like the team to beat throughout
@SpfdMilroy2020
, & went through buzzsaw of tough clubs to claim the title. Well deserved.
We'd better see those sweet 'stashes on y'all's faces next spring. 🐦
Though it may be flying below some folks' radar, Kingery Field in Atwater is a lovely place to enjoy a ballgame. A real gem of a location — right on the lakeshore, creek behind. One of my favorite parks in MN. Gonna have to revisit soon when I have my good camera with me.
@SpfdMilroy2020
, you put on a great tournament. Fields were awesome, baseball was great, hospitality was wonderful. Makes me want to come down for a game.
Parade Stadium is easily the most squandered baseball opportunity in the state. Nothing like viewing a historic ballpark and the majestic Minneapolis skyline from a prison yard, accented by the soothing clang of footsteps on crummy metal bleachers. Come on,
@MplsParkBoard
.
The Harmon Killebrew Memorial Weed Garden And Dandelion Farm is looking remarkable today, in the midst of overpriced rental season.
@MplsParkBoard
is a disgrace.
Dudes, always: "You play hardball? I played college back in the day. Was gonna get drafted by SD, but I blew out my arm. Been a few years, wanna get back into it." (Shows up to play catch with 14" basket A350 with batting glove inside, fingers jammed in 1/2 way to the elbow. 🤔
I love how 70% of the notifications I get now are sexy girl bot spam accounts liking a tweet from 9 months ago. This platform is really doing great under the ownership of that electric car blowhard apartheid megalomaniac "genius."
The willingness of so many younger guys to strike out looking rather than take a more controlled, protective swing is something I'll never wrap my head around. Especially with RISP.
Summer's officially over. School's back in session.
At least I've got this slick new cap from the
@birdislandfrogs
to keep all my fond memories from escaping...

The last 3 weekends were taxing, but phenomenal. I reported from 3
@MBAState2023
parks, drove about 600 miles, took hundreds of photos, posted dozens of them w game updates via
@MinnBaseball
, & wrote 8 feature stories with daily recaps at
Got called in for some emergency ump duty over the weekend. High marks from both clubs (except for allegedly not being loud enough on an IF fly call, but the dugout guys assured me it's because 50+ players are deaf). Might be time to start working again..?
We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to
@HadleyBaseball
upon learning of the passing of Red, who was probably the greatest baseball dog that ever lived. Forever in our hearts.
In-progress work on our TBT "State of Baseball" t-shirts for this summer. Lots to cram in there...
Back will be rock tour style list of all the parks we've visited. Keep following for progress.
I had been invited to be a participant in last night's
@MinnBaseball
bracket release show. Unfortunately it conflicted with other plans I had. I've got a lot of catching up to do. See everyone this weekend.
Glad to see the annual tradition of following the state championship game with a few days of online arguments about draftee pitchers and classifications is alive and well.
This weekend wiped me out, but what a blast. Great to see so many old friends and get a look at a few clubs I wasn't very familiar with. Everyone at
@JSchlepStadium
was awesome. Hope folks dug my live
@MinnBaseball
tweets and enjoyed my daily wraps. Back at it in GI Friday!
