@xspotsdamark Minor clarification: the French had 3 armored divisions overall, but like most of their forces, the 1st and 5th Divisions became part of the French 1st Army and took part in landings in southern France. The 2nd Division was somewhat unique in that it was part of the US 3rd Army.

@johnford @5150mc @GuitarWorld It’s a trademark, which means 10 years, but renewable so long as it is in use by Gibson. Trademarks aren’t about proprietary knowledge; it’s about product identification. Part of maintaining a mark is defending it; Gibson is literally required to take action here.

@dsherr13 @GuitarWorld You will never find a manufacturer thankful for their trademarks being infringed upon. Gibson is literally required to take legal action if they want to maintain their mark. That’s how trademarks work.

@SixstringLately @GuitarWorld You don’t approach someone who is already infringing on your trademark. They were supposed to approach you beforehand.

@PawelSokala @nikicaga That’s because the idiots screaming, “Why die for Danzig?” were loud enough that we let the Nazis roll over Poland… then a bunch of other neutral nations, then our allies and Oops! Looks like not intervening let things escalate to a world war.

@bendreyfuss The 109 countries myth traces back to a pseudo-Christian group in Australia, who ran a website stuffed full of anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial. And even then, their list of "109 locations" had to go all the way down to neighborhood and temporary expulsions to get the numbers.

@faust0karla1re @CremeDeLaLeem @Shinpath @keanfei47 @PamphletsY That is a chart for extreme poverty (about $2/day); the “Rest of the World” in that chart is mainly reflecting the high levels of extreme poverty in Africa. For moderate poverty ($5/day for an upper-middle class economy), China’s poverty is at 13%.

@Karl_Was_Right Russians make up 70% of the population. 20% identify as a minority ethnicity, with the largest groups being Tatars (3%), Chechens (1%) and Bashkir (1%). There are 10 groups between .75% and .33%, 20 between .33% and .1%, and the rest clock in at less than a tenth of a percent.

@GarlicCorgi Incidentally, you will also see this thrown in the opposite direction, using PPP to try to make smaller economies look bigger. You see this sometimes with people trying to inflate the portion of the global economy controlled by the BRICS.

@politvidchannel Yes, please tell enough Republicans to break the majority, the ones least willing to toe the party line, that the administration intends to primary them in 2-6 years.

@Melissa_suze @mikegalsworthy Ukraine withdrew their NATO application in 2010. They didn’t reconsider it until after Russia invaded.
