Medical internship is a truly humbling experience. Especially in a government setup interacting with not so well to do patients on a daily basis. Most patient relatives in our hospital cannot speak English but today was a different kind of experience which made me introspect. 1/n

Gave CPR to a patient for 20 mins > he couldn't be revived , then the next minute my food arrives and I have to get on with it while I actually move on to the next task at hand . Sometimes the brainwashed indifference for my own mental well being shocks me ngl .

12 admissions in the surgery trauma ward yesterday, 6 of them severe head injuries with fixed pupils and poor GCS all due to two wheeler accidents. One thing which has changed completely for me in this surgery posting is I no longer see two wheelers to be safe.

On my first day of internship in a busy chemo opd of over 300-400 patients I was told to go start IV lines on patients for their chemotherapy. Being the clueless intern I was on day 1 I looked 1/1

Finished 8 weeks of obgyn rotation today and this last 48 hour double emergency has been the heaviest in internship so far. I've come to the conclusion that there's nothing more of a dynamic environment than a labor room in a heavy government hospital.
