My buddy, Charlie Law Dawg passed quietly this morning. He wasn't a Police K9 or a Service Dog, but he was stubborn, snored loud, was loyal, and laugh out loud funny everyday. If everyone loved as unconditionally as he did, our world wouldn't be at war. Rest in Peace, Charlie ♥️

Tombstone welcomes trained service dogs! Service dogs are defined as dogs individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Titles II and III permits service dogs to accompany people with disabilities in all areas where the public are allowed to go.

Raven, the Police K9 shot in the line-of-duty last week is improving, thanks to the exceptional care provided and the love he receives everyday. K9s and Service Dogs have an incredible and unbreakable bond with their handler. Their drive to work makes them an invaluable asset ❤️

Tucson Police K9 Raven was injured during an officer involved shooting on Monday night at Reid Park. Aid was immediately rendered on-scene, and Raven was transported to VCA Valley Animal Hospital where he underwent surgery. Our thanks and prayers to this Heroic dog.

We did a traditional cake cutting in my office yesterday for the Marine Corps birthday and Veteran's Day. The guest of Honor was Fire Chief Alleman, whose Dad was a Marine. His picture and flag were there to represent. Our gratitude to all who serve their country or community.

We received a report that someone desecrated several graves at our historic Boothill Cemetery. It is a symbol of respect and remembrance to leave currency or trinkets at the sites. The suspect overturned the stones to steal the bills. Maybe Karma will catch them before I do!

The current Marshal of Tombstone is Jim Adams, who is a former US Marine and retired from the Sierra Vista Police Dept as the Special Ops Bureau Commander in February 2011. He was a founding member of the SWAT Team there and served as the Sniper Element Leader.

The Grand (Re)Opening of Lori's Place coincided with this year's Faith in Blue event. Lori's is a safe space for victims of certain crimes to be interviewed by professionals, receive a medical exam if appropriate to the case, and obtain services. Thank you for all you do!

Yesterday I had the quintessential Boy Scout call for service: Help a elderly, disabled woman cross a busy street. I also got into a locked vehicle with a 2-year-old in it, and one of my Deputies changed a tire recently. It's not always about crime, sometimes it's basic Humanity.

Fallen Heroes graciously gifts wreaths every year to Honor First Responders who made the ultimate Sacrifice in the line of duty. Tombstone has five such men buried here with four Peace Officers and one Fireman. Our departments joined together yesterday to pay tribute.

Yesterday, for the first time in Marshal's Office history, one of our troops swore-in as a Federal Agent. He will be a part-time Task Force Officer with the DEA. This will be a force multiplier of intelligence & resource sharing in our area. We are grateful for this partnership.

DO NOT DRIVE DRUNK! Last night, an intoxicated man slammed into the Border Patrol Checkpoint in Tombstone, injuring several Agents. His night of drinking put him in the County Jail, facing multiple Felony charges and needlessly hurt others. Get a ride or get a room.

Our three K9s and four handlers train for 4 hours every week on a variety of subjects and utilize different environments and techniques to sharpen their skills. Not long after training last night, one of the dogs detected Cocaine and Heroin on the streets!

End Of Watch: Sergeant Nix was shot and killed when he interrupted a beer theft at a convenience store in North Carolina. 123 Officers and 25 Police K9s died in the Line Of Duty during 2023. 346 Officers were shot, and 115 were ambushed. Blessed are the PeaceMakers.

The Long arm (and legs) of the Law. A smuggler ran from multiple agencies yesterday and then came through Tombstone. With help from the Sheriff's Office, his tires got spiked, he was chased on foot, and is now in custody. If you run, we will catch you. "Go around or go to Jail!"

The Cartels are constantly evolving their human trafficking tactics. In our county, they've used a 12-year-old driver, one who was 76, and the other night in Tombstone, this pair of amputees. The next night they called in a vehicle fire with people trapped inside to draw us away.

Another high-speed pursuit of someone smuggling humans through Tombstone for profit was terminated with spikes last night. Speeds reached 115 mph. These drivers recklessly endanger the public, their passengers, and Law Enforcement. In the end, they lose their car and go to jail!
