So GP practices are now in debt to their banks due the funding crisis and going deeper into the red each month. The present contract isn’t viable and more GP practice contracts will be handed back this winter. This will have a dreadful effect on patient care and ED attendances.
Investment in GP: GP practices are facing spiralling costs, rocketing inflation, a huge increase in the need for appointments and ever-increasing complexity and yet we see a real time decrease in funding of 6.92%

The first priority for dealing with the crisis in the NHS is to improve working conditions for healthcare staff which will improve retention. Cutting pay and overloading the remaining staff with excess workload will encourage emigration, resignations and retirements.

We’ve seen a huge increase in GP workload trying to ensure that patients with red flag referrals receive timely diagnosis and management due to long waiting times.
No mention of it here - or from govt ministers - that the knock on impact on gen practice is huge. Patients on waiting lists become more unwell, suffer more pain/disability & remain off work longer affecting mental health leading to a need for GP to input

We welcome the action taken by NI Trust CEOs in trying to address the lack of funding for a pay uplift in Northern Ireland.
Junior doctors and consultants will continue to plan to ballot for industrial action to address the long-term issues around pay parity and pay erosion.
