📕🤔☕️ Different style guides offer varying guidance in the capitalization of “black” and “white” in regard to race. Which capitalization format makes the most sense to you in the context of writing historical and educational materials?

The president’s inaugural address sounded a bit more like a State of the Union address than an inaugural address much more concerned with communicating policy goals for today than the speech living on for posterity.

I never thought I’d hear the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 invoked during a president’s inaugural address. Granted, the Alien Enemies Act was the most benign of that legislative package (and is still on the books today), but still… 😂

@brandonkparise I don’t think that your objective is to be “fair,” so to speak, but to point backward and throw blame rather than engaging seriously to discuss a solution to the current problem. Both campaigns agreed to circumvent the commission. A new agreement needs to be forged prior to 2028.

Presidential debates between two individuals should have a single moderator. It is not a two-person job.

@shelbypup252 It is impossible to have a substantive and civil political discourse when each side feels threatened by the other. After every election, life goes on, but politicians cast each election as an existential crisis. Incessant othering of political opponents has tainted our discourse.

@kBake712 So it was necessary to “fact check” one participant exclusively? And necessary for who? Are people so dumb and ill-informed (and unable to google) that they need some media hack to tell them what is true by their reckoning (and lie to them about that cat)? #Rhetorical
