This morning at 3am my only Granddaughter flew to Poland to train as a Vet.
When my daughter moved to Germany we wrote letters & sent parcels.
Now it's Facetime & WhatsApp
She'll be a brilliant vet.

It is 9 years today since my lovely wife Siobhan left this earth.
Diagnosed with Alzheimers at 69 she made it to her 80th year, dying as gently as she lived.
I was 85 then.
It feels like yesterday & a lifetime ago.

I got my hair cut in a Barbers yesterday for the first time in years
It took a long time, both waiting & preening
He did a great job in fairness There was no spoiling in my day

On the 2nd Christmas after my wife Siobhan died I was very down. One night I wrote a letter to her. When my daughter rang I read it out to her and when she stopped bawling she printed & framed it. She said the last line is pure Ram Dass.

It's heavy in Wexford
Warm 22, 23 but sky is overcast.
Today I am mostly going to look at a camper van.
I used to convert old VW vans as a hobby then tour the West with my wife Siobhan - driving where the road took us - camping in Doolin, Lahinch, Kinsale etc.
Great days.

it wasn't till I was venting to a complete stranger that she has adhd & diabetes I realised I'd left my top teeth on the sink
