In 2017 my book, The Proverbs of Middle-earth, was released, but sadly my publisher folded when it was still a baby. So since 2018 I’ve self-published.
And it’s done very well. When I first published, my goal was to sell 2000 – if my sums are correct, I’m now at 2901. Wonderful!
I’ve been tweeting Tolkien’s proverbs for 10 years now. Having reached the end of the LOTR Appendixes again, I am once more feeling a combination of wistful sadness in saying goodbye to the story, and a joyful expectation as we return to day 1 and plunge into The Silmarillion!
I’ve been tweeting Tolkien’s proverbs since August 2010. Having reached the end of the LOTR Appendixes again (for perhaps the 25th time), it’s time to return to Day 1 and plunge into The Silmarillion!

The last of the Inklings has died.
His long, slow, faithful work in opening up the history of Middle-earth to us reminds me of Gandalf:
“The rule of no realm is mine. But... I also am a steward.”
And now the last steward has surrendered his office.
Christopher Tolkien has died at the age of 95. The Tolkien Society sends its deepest condolences to Baillie, Simon, Adam, Rachel and the whole Tolkien family.
