I’m not making a moral claim on immigrants themselves, anymore than I’d make a moral claim on Morton pantry salt. I’m just stating an obvious fact that just because something is good in X amount, doesn’t necessarily make it good in greater amounts. I will say tho the quality of salt we’re putting on our dishes today is of a far lower rung than what was being put on it in 1912. Still, even too much of good salt can ruin a dish.

@Appeal2HeavenVI Interesting, I did know that. And ofc his criticisms are devoid of love of that which he’s criticizing or even just the ability to see any positives in it (at least as far as this clip goes). That’s why I don’t like Mencken.

And yes I agree that palliative care and later life care IS expensive and a waste but who said that waste is the determinate of what’s good and bad? I thinks it’s a good waste of money. Similarly I think prayer is a good waste of time. Good waste, i.e., extravagance, adornment, idealism, etc. are good. It’s right and good that we spend a ton of money ensuring old people live longer and more comfortably so they can enjoy their families. Don’t kys please. Just fall in love.

@thirdfig I remember the exact day of my senior year of college when I decided to stop deleting or marking emails as read. It was, and still is, freeing.

@ErishaAnn If hinge is to be thought of as gym reps for dating, the boosts and the premium are just your gym membership dues. Ain’t no gains without (monetary) pain!
