The only point I've made and stuck to is, treat your card like it is and just turn your settings down a bit. You'll get golden games like KCD2 but you'll also get performance draining games like Ark.

We've gone from developers pushing their engines to take advantage of everything a system has to offer to now making games that hardware needs to play catch-up just to run it.
