I received confirmation that three dear friends perished in the DC flight crash. One was Corey Haynos, an elite figure skater who attended the national development camp at Wichita, and his parents Roger and Stephanie Haynos. Like me, Roger and Stephanie were political conservatives and Trump supporters. Not only would they have approved of Trump’s press conference yesterday, they probably would have cheered during it. Also like me, they were often critical of the legacy media and maybe especially the @NYTimes. Despite that, I want to express my gratitude to the Times, which reported some kind things about the Haynoses. (See below.) All three Haynoses were devout Christians, and I’m grateful that NY Times did not bury that. Eg, as the Times reports, Corey noted on his Instagram bio “John 3:36 (look it up).” If anyone is looking for a way to honor to the Haynoses--and perhaps other crash victims--a good one might be to follow Corey’s advice – look up John 3:36.

Every high school and college student should know the importance of "the photo of Jones, Aaronson, and Rutherford." It's from Orwell's 1984. Winston Smith suspects that the Party is lying, but he's not sure if he can trust his own mind. But the above photo is an anchor -- he knows that the photo is true; therefore he knows that the Party is lying about it. This makes him realize that the Party must be capable of lying about other things. Something similar happened with at least two claims by the media during the Biden years: (i) "the Hunter laptop is Russian disinformation" and (ii) "Joe Biden is sharp as a tack." We now know the truth about such claims. And we can remember that the media claimed the opposite. The claims caused ordinary people to realize "the media really can lie to us."
