This gorgeous fluff ball is a Juvenile Tawny Owl, she was brought in when she was found on the ground with no sign of her parents or the nest site. She was brought in to be checked over and looked after until she is big enough to be released. Isn’t she a beauty?

This gorgeous polecat is a member of the mustelid family. There are a number of species in this family, such as the stoat, weasel, otter & badger. He came into us after being found cold & shivering. After warming up & a few hearty meals, we'll have him back in the wild again.

We thought it would be a good idea to share a story from our most recent newsletter about the dangers of glue traps. Poor Betty the hedgehog got stuck in one, but thanks to our amazing vet team, she made a full recovery – read on to find out how!

Did you know that robins don’t get their famous red chests until they're adults? They also tend to have grumpy little faces as this cutie is modelling nicely. Brought in after being found alone, he's being hand reared in our bird nursery & will be released when he's big enough.

What beautiful antlers! This Roe deer came in after a road traffic accident that caused an injury to his hip. Our veterinary team are treating the injury, & he's recuperating in our calm, quiet deer sheds. Once he's made a good recovery & is walking well, he'll be released again.

When the nights start to get darker, we see a significant rise in the number of deer brought in due to road traffic accidents. Deer are crepuscular animals, meaning they are active primarily at dawn & dusk. Please be extra careful driving at these times & reduce your speed.

Patient update! For those of you wondering, our juvenile rabbits are continuing to make excellent progress. We took this photo of them last week and as you can see, they are all healthy and growing up fast – our fosterer has done an excellent job of rearing them!

Sadly, tonight’s episode of Holby City is the last one, but it’s not all bad news as we were contacted by the producers who donated a huge amount of medical equipment to us now filming is over. This will make such a difference to the animals we care for, & we are very grateful!

A trio of owls! We don’t often admit three species of owl so close together so we were surprised to admit a barn owl, little owl and tawny owl over the same weekend. Happily, all three owls are responding well to treatment. We hope they will return to the wild soon.

This lovely colourful bird is a goldfinch. Brought in after a run in with a cat. Fortunately he wasn’t badly injured. He’s on a course of antibiotics to ward of any infection developing from the cats claws, & once he's had a successful test flight, we will release him.

One of our little badger cubs! This gorgeous youngster was found above ground, calling out. After observation, sadly there was no sign of mum and so the cub was brought to us to be hand reared. She was dehydrated on arrival but is responding well and has settled with another cub.

This shrew was brought in after being found with wounds. He was given antibiotics & kept in for observation & feeding. Shrews are small insectivorous mammals that resemble mice, but with long-pointed snout & tiny eyes. They're actually a much closer relative of hedgehogs & moles.

These two adorable rabbit kits were rescued after their nest was accidentally destroyed by a digger. One of the bunnies had a small amount of blood on his face and a bruised left eye but he is feeling much better now! We are pleased to say both are doing well in our care.

We recently took in this little hedgehog who was caught up in string used to tie twigs together. The string was tied so tightly she couldn’t uncurl or walk. Our vet team safely removed the string and after a short course of anti-inflammatories, she was released back to the wild!
