Think of the first Metal Gear. There was no game like it. Think of Snatcher,Peace Walker,Sons of Liberty, Phantom Pain, Boktai, & PT. Each was a classic that redefined what gaming meant. I’m excited to learn what Strand Gaming means & looking forward to being mesmerized on 11/8!
Metal Gear Solid 2 is over 20 years old but the things the Patriot AI said are still super interesting. We should honestly be paying more attention to the warnings about AI and its dangers posed in the MGS2. "Sons of Liberty" takes on a new meaning in the age of AI
Happy 25th Birthday to one of the greatest graphic adventures ever, Policenauts. The best kind of genre-blend, it mixes scifi with noirish underpinnings, organ trafficking, and space travel. It's a game you should definitely play!
In light of recent quarantine efforts and social distancing, Death Stranding takes on a new light for me and seems more prescient than ever in its themes and symbolism. I can also better understand why some only speak through a holographic communicator & want to avoid contact.
Recently re-played through one of the best openings in gaming, I was amazed by the mix of suspense, intrigue, story-telling, terror, & awesome music. Happy Birthday Kojima Kantoku! All of us fans are awaiting Death Stranding & all the incredible new experiences that await! 🎂😀
Re-playing one of my favorite games as research for my talk at the Film Studies class at Tokoha University this week. So many great memories and moments. The exploration of language, legacy, and war is incredible. That last revelation with Venom is inspiring! 😃👍
So many amazing moments throughout the Metal Gear series that still stay w/ me after 31 years of playing. Psycho Mantis, Rex vs. Ray, Boss Fight, & Raiden's bout with reality. All mix amazing action w/ psychological depth & character moments that are so memorable!
#METALGEAR31st
I loved the original Metal Gear Solid 3 E3 trailer (2004) w/ the HALO jump & intense political thriller/spy setup w/ Zero saying, "Snake, it sounds like this could be hotter than Cuba," and the way it connects with MGS2, memes, and memories. Kojima trailers are always an event!

was amazing. I especially loved the bond with the baby (we just had a baby recently and I could relate to the soothing). A lot to mull on and as always, so intriguing & brilliant. Can't wait!
One last MGSV tweet. The ending was a poetic circle, tying everything together w/ a powerful message about revolutions, heroism, & identity. Don't want to spoil things, but its message about legacy resonated w/ me as the series came to a close. Any of us can be Big Boss. Awesome
This is the second MECHA SAMURAI EMPIRE (メカ・サムライ・エンパイア) cover in Japan, showing the new Leviathan class mecha combating a Nazi biomech in an important battle through a major USJ city.Thx to
@CaptFlushGarden
who somehow brought what was only in my head to life!

Mecha Samura Empire (メカ・サムライ・エンパイア) Japanese cover, 1 of 3, showcasing the old USJ Mecha taking a pounding vs the Nazi biomech. Art by the amazing John Liberto and coming to Japan in just 3 weeks on April 18th! 😃😃

Happy 20th Birthday to Meal Gear Solid! Started replaying it to celebrate & there are so many amazing moments. My fave 4:
1). Psycho Mantis shakes your controller
2). Sniper Wolf battle
3). Ninja combat
4). Solid takes on Rex w/ Ninja's help.
What are yours? 😃
BTs, Edge Knot City, bridges, a new history, Apocalyptica, Homo Demens, plots in the shadows- can't wait to find out all the strands connecting the pieces together. Such a brilliant trailer on so many levels w/ stunning visuals. I wish it was November 8th!
Happy 30th Birthday to one of my favorite games of all time, Snatcher. It has one of the best narratives in any medium & is a huge influence on my own writing. The worldbuilding is fantastic, the dialogue choices are witty & fascinating, and the themes more relevant than ever
Happy 9th Birthday to MGS: Peace Walker! I finished it for the first time last week & loved every moment. Scenes w/ the Boss made me emotional, gameplay was superb, & its thematic exploration of the madness of nuclear war wove beautifully w/ Kubrick's classic Dr. Strangelove.
When you see a David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, or Steven Spielberg film, you know to expect excellence. When you see a "Hideo Kojima Game," you know it will be a brilliant & mind-blowing experience unlike any other. He's a visionary director who brings out the best in his team! 😃
Just saw Parasite. What a mind trip and easily one of the best movies of the year. It's rare when you can go into a film and have no idea where it's going and then come out in awe. Parasite is that kind of film; haunting and thought provoking!
The tragic brilliance of the Boss is one of the best parts of the Metal Gear series. In both MGS3 & Peace Walker, we see how one of the greatest soldiers alive changed the course of the world by her loyalty, honor, & compassion. Studied her a lot for CSR!
Now imagine you’ve been quarantined for some time. Supplies are low & it seems pretty hopeless as you’re afraid to go out. Along comes a stranger bringing exactly what you need in exchange for joining the chiral network. That’s Sam Bridges delivering hope 😃
Death Stranding is an extraordinary experience, with compelling story telling, immersive gameplay that has something for everyone, and stunning visuals that made my jaw drop. There's a great mix of action, exploration, and worldbuilding. Death has never been so compelling.
On the topic of Silent Hill, one of the best horror experiences of this generation for me was P.T. The sense of foreboding & mystery was so ominous & yet so intriguing. Played it multiple times & loved the way it spurred community discussion as tho living thru a shared terror 😱
Hey friends playing Death Stranding, make sure to do the optional pizza missions. The payoff is worth it (and I don’t mean just the satisfaction of having delivered pizzas on time) 🍕 😃
People have asked me, is Death Stranding a "walking simulator?" If climbing up a visually stunning mountain in the middle of a massive storm carrying huge loads of baggage while fending off terrifying monsters & taking care of your BB is a walking simulator, I guess so.😅
Congrats to the whole team! I worked a year and a half on Soul (Terry, Curley, the counselors, and more) and this is an immense honor!

I remember first time I played MGS2 and I was on a CRT TV sitting pretty close while playing and when Rose said this, I jumped back cause I was like, how did she know?
The game design is so thoughtful for the player that just in case for whatever reason you can't switch ports, it gives you another option to beat Psycho Mantis.
I’ve been getting a ton of writing done thanks to this amazing Death Stranding Walkman preloaded with the entire soundtrack. It’s one of the best soundtracks I’ve listened to. Gets me in the mood for being creative 😃
I've started my second playthrough of Death Stranding and I'm catching all the cool little details I missed the first time thru. You can play it in so many different ways & have so much freedom in how you explore. I'm excited for all the new gamers who are going to play it soon!
Loved this:
Norman asked [Kojima] once, "This is so realistic, do you think there’s going to be a day where you don’t need actors anymore?" He goes, "No. You could never do that. You need the soul. You need a real human to have real human emotions."
I recommend re-playing Death Stranding now as it’ll have even more of an impact and meaning, especially since many of us will have to temporarily go into prepper mode. For those who haven’t, I’d recommend you download it and play it!
First time playing Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and it's so dang good. One of the best scenes is when you're chasing the Mammal Pod/Peace Walker on the Boss's old horse, powerful both as an action piece & from a symbolic sense for the emotional significance it has for Snake
PC friends, Death Stranding for PC is out today! I’ve expressed how much I’ve loved the game many times so make sure to pick it up if you haven’t already. Meanwhile, I’m checking out this freaking awesome concept art from the art book. Gorgeous.
The Death Stranding trailer is so great. I've watched it like 20 times & am blown away by its stunning visual imagery-rarely does something leave you both so enthralled and intrigued. The scenes drip w/ meaning, making me ask/wonder deeper questions about life & death

! Most gripping horror experience of the last gen- still remember that moment when fans figured out the truth behind it! I still wish the nightmare could have come true!
Watching this Heartman trailer, I can't help but wonder how movies, stories, music, and games limited to 20 minute consumable lengths would affect the arts and the mediums. How different would storytelling be knowing it runs the length of a person's life?
"Most of life's basic functions fit rather easily into a 21-minute timeslot..."

Should have been asleep an hour ago but I can’t stop watching the trailer and trying to learn more. It is so exciting to be so captivated and intrigued by a work in any medium, and Death Stranding feels like the most original work in recent times! Thank you Kojima Kantoku!
Christmas came early this year! Loved this awesome 3D holiday card from Kojima Productions-everything they do is so stylish & super cool, & blown away by the details! "I'll Keep Coming" it reads. Can't wait till the game arrives. Thank you so much

Every frame is like a work of art, photorealistic but also beautifully directed. I can't stop looking. It's going to be amazing to explore the whole world and the moon too!
This faceoff betwn Metal Gear's Raiden & Kujira's Leviathan from Mecha Samurai Empire is one of the coolest things I've seen. Obviously, the MGS games have been a huge inspiration for my books! Thx GP Solo for a brilliant work of art & making the fanboy in me squeal! 😀

“Playing Death Stranding is kind of like climbing Mt. Fuji by yourself…You might think ‘Why am I putting myself through this much trouble?’ But when you climb to the summit and see the rising sun, all the effort and hardship will be validated.” Kojima in the Creative Gene on DS
I still remember the first time I loaded up Metal Gear Solid and having my mind blown. Some of the most amazing bosses in gaming, gripping story that made me think about the future of humanity, and innovative gameplay that set a new standard. Happy 24th Metal Gear Solid!
This Sam Porter Bridges holographic postcard is pretty dang awesome! Thank you to my editor at Hayakawa, Aya-san, for sending it to me from Tokyo Game Show (she knows how much I’m looking forward to the game!) 😃😍
Playing some Boktai tonight, it incorporates vampire hunting, stealth, and the sun. One of the best games on the GBA, but as I’m playing at night, I need to wait for the sun to charge! Drag the coffin tomorrow! 😃
MGSV was real special for me as it was first Metal Gear I played w/ my wife. She loved it & I loved seeing her evolve from cautious first timer infiltrating a camp to badass warrior. We enjoyed building up Mother Base, fighting w/ Quiet, & facing Sahelanthropus
#METALGEAR31st
Watching Kurosawa's High and Low again tonight. What an incredible film that holds up on multiple views. The way Toshiro Mifune and Tatsuya Nakadai work off each other is amazing. Highly recommend if you haven't seen it.
An animated movie called Hello World (
@helloworld0920
) came out this past weekend in Japan & the main character, who's a big science fiction fan, has one of the Mecha Samurai Empire books on his shelf which is super cool! Can't wait to see it. Thx to the fans who pointed it out!
A really great interview with Norman Reedus about Death Stranding: "If you want to empower people, you involve them in the conversation. This game is empowering in that way. It’s a whole new concept, and it’s super fascinating."
A truly stunning fan book paying tribute to Death Stranding- thank you
@KaoticSnake
for sending a copy! It is incredible seeing all the fan art, cosplay, and essays inspired by the extraordinary message of Death Stranding. This is more than a book & I’m so giddy as a fellow fan!
Congratulations to Kojima Productions & Kojima Kantoku for winning Best Game Direction, Best Performance, & Best Score & Music at the

2019. I've been gaming a long time and there's no experience like Death Stranding- hands down my game of the year!👍
After seeing Kojima Kantoku's tweet about 2001, I went back to rewatch the film & remembered how visually & thematically bold it was. It's a stunning, uncompromising vision that is mesmerizing & provocative, lingering in your mind long after a first viewing. HAL! Ur not sorry!😂
One of the things that struck me about the Death Stranding trailer was the number 21. They say the soul is 21 grams. Also, after 3 minutes, Heartman returns, which has symbolic meaning in the resurrection of life & death. Even these subtle details have significance, which I love!
Finally showing my wife Death Stranding (she was away for holidays before I joined her) and we’re loving it. It’s awesome to see all the new roads and bridges everywhere. The community is thriving even more & it’s cool to see how it’s changed while I was away
I’ve been invited by one of my favorite sites to write about Death Stranding & it’s been so much fun re-watching the videos & studying what we know about the universe so far. I’ve actually been having a problem keeping the word count down as there’s so many fascinating details!
We got into a discussion about Hot Coldman from Peacewalker & how symbols like the V can have different meanings(victory, peace,& even walking when flipped). This ties back into MGSV & the relationship between words/concept. I was channeling that w/ my background image pose 😅
