A friend of mine asked me why I fight so hard for public education in Ontario when, “You can afford private school for your kids.”
My answer- “I can. You can’t.”
High quality public education benefits all of society. Private education benefits those who can afford it

I can’t believe this needs to be said but- if you’re meeting the bloody Prime Minister you suck it up and shake his hand like an adult. Don’t even have to like the guy…lord knows I haven’t always liked every PM I have met but I was still respectful.
Ontario government months into Covid- We can’t tell you were to get a vaccine so good luck and figure it out.
Ontario government days into a LCBO strike- Here’s an interactive and downloadable map of every location you can buy booze cross referenced to type of booze you want.
Ok Boomers and Gen Xers saying “I paid 18% for my mortgage stop complaining about 8%”
18% of 60k is $10,800
8% of 500k is $40,000
Please shut up about your historical experience.
Months ago I remember people laughing and joking about the chaos of American school board meetings. Last night that chaos came to the
@OCDSB

Yesterday was wild.
Did I really see the Premier of a province with a population smaller than the GTA say she would take 50% of the CPP Fund to start her own pension?
You know what I haven’t seen before in my 35 years living in Ontario? ERs closing due to lack of staff. Seems to me that is a pretty epic failure on the part of our Minister
@SylviaJonesMPP
. Probably the type of thing you resign in disgrace from.

UK- “We want unrestricted access of our dairy to your market.”
Canada- “Ok we want unrestricted access of our beef to your market.”

Like…does anyone actually bother looking into things anymore?
Son has a fever of 104.6. Should probably take him to
@CHEO
but all that would do is have him uncomfortable there until morning instead of uncomfortable at home. I do so love living in
@fordnation
hellscape of a province. Fuck you Doug.
#onpoli
Ok so let me get this straight- the Province guts the ability to collect development charges, municipalities raise property tax 5-100% to cover the loss, property owners pay much more to stay in their homes, developers make more money, and somehow this will lower housing cost?
The idea of hollowing out the public education system so parents can send their children to ideologically “pure” schools without contributing to the public good is terrifying. An important part of education is learning about ideas/issues outside of your own bubble.
What if instead of putting
@ServiceOntario
kiosks in for profit American stores (like
@Staples
) we put them in
@ONLibraryAssoc
libraries?
We already pay for them with (municipal) tax dollars and any revenue would do well to improve the free public programs and service
#ONpoli
Honest question- Ontarian’s have been told over and over again that the only thing we need to access medically necessary care is our

Why then do we have to pay for blood tests a medical doctor has deemed to be necessary for our healthcare?

#OntarioHealth
Good morning
@PierrePoilievre
. When can I expect you to weigh in on
@fordnation
and his big gatekeeper energy? Seems like overriding Charter rights to force some of the lowest paid workers in the province to work instead of negotiating with them would meet your definition.
All I want from 2023 is society recognizing that cleaner indoor air and high quality masks will save a lot of people from needless disability and death.

Hey Ontario parents- those school boards, like Essex, saying “schools are open while CUPE is on strike but keep your kid home if they rely on an EA.” are quite clearly saying that only some children matter. Be mad.

Wow!!
The Prime Minister

@PierrePoilievre
The same people that celebrated when Steven Harper named
@MarkJCarney

Weird.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if
@JustinTrudeau
used the federal money the Premiers are refusing to be accountable for to just make charitable donations to hospitals and healthcare orgs dorectly?
Doug- “Developers will no longer need to pay for the water and sewer lines in their new subdivisions.”
Ontario- “So they will pass those savings on to the consumer?”
Developers- “Nope!”
Cities- “So…property taxes are going to go up!”
How does this make anything affordable?
@theJagmeetSingh
He didn't walk away. He offered the Premier's everything they wanted as long as they agreed to prove that they spent the money on healthcare. They refused.

My 4 year old went to JK for the first time today. We forget to hand her her

Pierre Poilievre has said he wants to eliminate the CPP "tax" which, in essence, means he wants to eliminate CPP. So the guy who qualified extremely young for a gold plated GOVERNMENT pension wants to eliminate them for anyone else. Typically Conservative.
Ontario hospitals- We have ORs sitting unused due to lack of funding and lack of staff. Can we have more funding and staff so we can open them and keep them open longer?
Premier Ford- You know what we need folks? Private surgical centres!

I drove the 407 from end to end and back in June so I could get from Ottawa to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a work meeting. The bill makes my eyes water…but still better than Toronto traffic.
I wonder what the province could be doing with all the tolls they privatized?

We’re starting a National School Food Program in Canada.

Roads, Healthcare, and Education are the 3 main areas of responsibility for the Provinces. It’s actually impressive how badly the Ontario government is failing at literally its job.
@YoniFreedhoff
It makes me incredibly sad for humanity that wearing a N95 when indoors is considered just “too difficult and uncomfortable.”…of course the fact my wife and 20 month old son are currently at

Interesting- I tweet about my son being sick and the piss poor state of available healthcare and 95% of responses are people giving wonderful advice and offering help. 5% are anti-vaxx spreading the same lies that keep us in a pandemic. May they have the day they deserve
Congrats
@fordnation

@SylviaJonesMPP
you two are responsible for a child dying in the floor of a hospital while waiting to access the “readily accessible healthcare Ontarian’s need.”
May that child haunt you both for the rest of your unnatural lives.
Everyone needs to listen to this awful account of a 2 year old infant who drew its last breath on the floor of the ER at Lakeridge. As told by a nurse who is angry and traumatized. Who wouldn't be? Those poor parents.
@PierrePoilievre
The biggest gatekeepers keeping Nurses out of Ontario are
@fordnation
and
@SylviaJonesMPP
who refuse to repeal Bill 124 and pay them properly.
Go after those gatekeepers and I will believe you’re serious about helping.
The fact that parents who benefited from Ontario’s excellent public education system are themselves now demanding that their child(ren) only learn Reading, Rightin, and ‘Rithmetic in mind bending. Nothing like wanting to prep kids for the factory jobs of the 1800’s I guess.
Extraordinary and unnecessary cruelty. Brace yourselves, as much of the Western world is about to experience a decade of regressive hard right wing governments, I fear.
So people want to kill a female Jewish family doctor school-board trustee because:

Something to think about for all the RN/RPNs who may want to jump to a private medical clinic in Ontario. Just found out from a client of mine that they aren’t covered by WSIB unless they opt-in. How did she learn this? By getting hurt at work and being told “Good luck!”
The GG is the Commander-in-Chief of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Wearing her uniform when acting in that capacity is entirely appropriate.
I weep for the level of civic knowledge Canadians have these days.
I really don't like how the governor general has started wearing a military uniform all the time. This custom was properly retired long ago, but I believe Michaelle Jean brought it back. The GG is supposed to represent civilian control of our military—we look like a junta here.
You know that “Fire Trudope!” Petition that was sponsored by the MP from Peterborough?
