Certainly not in my lifetime. Your pessimism just seems like a defense mechanism against the idea of failure, and that doesn’t help anybody. I know you believe in liberty, so use the obvious positive changes in public discussion to our advantage instead of shitting on it entirely.

DING DING DING. You get it. Is it unfair for illegal immigrants to receive benefits? I believe that 100%, but what republicans do is pretend all illegal immigrants receive and don’t contribute. Most pay taxes WITHOUT receiving many of their benefits that come along with taxation… the craziest thing? MOST illegal immigrants pay taxes and do not (cannot) vote. What happened to no taxation without representation? I’m personally against centralized social security nets for anyone, but at the very least we need to cut it for illegal immigrants. No deportations needed. Any illegal immigrants contributing to the economy and society (MOST OF THEM!!) should be able to apply for residency and then citizenship in very easy/streamlined manner without the risk of them being deported if they don’t have any crimes with an actual victim on their record. (Drug related crimes without a victim, for instance, should NOT be disqualifying.) Democrats and Republicans don’t actually fix anything on this issue because they don’t WANT it to be fixed. They want division.
