At the location of the sensor 54% of the sun was covered by the moon during the peak. I assume the moon coverage blocking some of the solar radiation transmission explains the dip in radiation levels hitting the sensor. I would like to see the data from a sensor in the path of totality. It probably has a much bigger and deeper dip, then bouncing back to normal.

Example on the left is a graph from a normal day (day before eclipse) and the graph on the right is the partial solar eclipse day showing a big dip in solar radiation during partial coverage using a Pyranometer which measures global solar radiation.

@NWSKeyWest This is the rain gauge that measured 14.92 inches of rain over a 16 hour period of thunderstorms this week. It’s located at the Theiss Tower at mile marker 103 in Key Largo. Could this be a new rainfall record for #KeyLargo ?

@TWCChrisBruin @weatherchannel Those rainfall estimates are spot on. We measured 14.92 inches of rain with a rain gauge attached to the tower.

@HurricaneCity The tower is rated for up to Cat 5. I think realistically it will probably fold if it gets hit directly by an eyewall of a Cat 3/4 or higher.
