Today, I learned how to make use of a layer 3 switch. I was able to use a layer 3 switch in the same network topology as yesterday. This time, the layer 3 switch is in charge of the inter-VLAN routing instead of using a ROAS.

Today, I was able to configure a GRE tunnel. A GRE tunnel allows you to establish a simple point-to-point connection between two networks. It's almost like a VPN however, it doesn't provide any form of encryption.

Today, I learned more about syslog. Syslog can be used to log events such as changes in interface status, system restarts, etc. It can either be displayed in the CLI, saved in the device RAM, or sent to an external syslog server.
