So the costume collection keeps giving. I am entranced by this 1960s book about Estonian folk costumes that comes with a set of what look to me like circuit diagrams for the AI the will finally take over the world and dress us all in brightly coloured smocking!

As well as books we have a couple of Cabinets of Curiosities in the shop for sale and this tiny shoe is just too cute not to show off. "Irene's First" from 1881 !

Somewhat scruffy on the outside but this string of early 20th century postcards joking about the famous Manneken Pis in Brussels are just so vibrant and fun still.

Good morning all... shall we start with this motley but rather cool selection of ephemera from the 40s and 50s that came in yesterday? Everything from the Home Guard magazine to Speedway world championships.

That feeling when you have trawled through 6 crates of books and the only thing that would have been worth anything has shed its skin and disappeared!

The best price you say? Well, do you mean the best price for an independent secondhand bookshop, struggling amid rising overheads & tumbling footfall against the ever present threat of penury & battling the winds of cultural change in a digital age? Or do you mean best for you?

Loving these three vintage magazines called The Embroideress (!) which was part published by a company that produced bleached linens for the work, hence one of them even comes with fabric swatches.

A lot of the collection we have just acquired on textiles and costume has a bent towards material from eastern Europe, the Middle East and the Russian steppe. This is an early 20th booklet on Turkish embroidery, fabulously illustrated in colour.
