@MalMyrth0 You'll be surprised by what a lot of wild animals can tolerate. If you look at crickets or mantis that are infected with the freshwater species of hairworm, the parasite is really large compared with the host, yet they manage to survive long enough for the hairworm to mature.

@raptor_chatter Host manipulation can be costly and may require the parasite to secrete certain molecules in order to bring about the altered behaviour. If it's not necessary, then they won't do it. Most parasites don't engage in active host manipulation because it's not worthwhile.

@lovessmallsong It reminds me how in Chinese there's two translations for laser - there's "激光" which means "excited/stimulated light", but then there's the phonetic translation "雷射" which translates directly into "Thunder Shoot"
