A woman on this train just deliberately snapped the spine of a book. Years foraging second hand book shops meant I had long suspected the existence of such monsters, but to face one in the flesh made my blood freeze
An out loud, “oh no” when I saw William Russell’s obituary:

’s first leading man and one of its finest. I hope he and Jackie are enjoying the great villa of the everafter.
Of course if RTD is returning, then everything's coming through. Not just the Daleks, but the Skaro Degradations, the Horde of Travesties, the Nightmare Child, the Could-have-been King with his army of Meanwhiles and Never-weres…
If only there were an animal smaller than a giraffe that would provide a better reference. But there isn’t. It is the smallest animal and anything smaller can only be measured in giraffe fractions

Utopia is of the most brilliant sleights of hand in the show’s history, inspiring both Moffat and Chibnall to do Master hiding in plain sight episodes. This one’s still the best, though
On Patrick Macnee’s 100th birthday I call upon

and anyone else who might be able to make it happen to end the national scandal that is the absence of a restored Blu-ray release of THE NEW AVENGERS.
Nothing says “I became a Dr Who fan in the 1980s” more than being indifferent towards the sonic screwdriver: our Doctors used their hands (mainly to strangle their companions but let’s not dwell on that)
I am ambivalent about the different sonic screwdrivers in Dr Who and don't think I could tell you which one belongs to which Doctor - they're fun pointy lighting up things

The Movie came along at exactly the right moment to rekindle my fading interest in the series, connect me to other fans, and I’m so doing (this isn’t hyperbole) to change my life. It has a lot to answer for
Very sad. One of the writers who inspired a generation of kids to become avid readers. A brilliant talent for a pithy epithet (“wheezing, groaning”, “pleasant open face”, “dandy and a clown”). I suspect he wrote a lot more of 1968-74 Dr Who than he ever claimed credit for.
I’m so sad that Doctor Who legend

has died. I know how many authors he inspired, and how many millions he entertained as a writer, script-editor, producer and raconteur. I first met him at a library talk when I was eight and edited his final short story this year.
The bit at the after party that I remember getting the most tremendous cheer was when Jackie Lane appeared with a video message. Dodo, you were really special.
Can anyone actually name a long running TV series that has a wholly fulfilling and satisfying conclusion? The only one I can think of is 'Breaking Bad' (just...ish)
Oh no I just saw the news about Bob Baker. He wrote or co wrote some of the most bonkers brilliant 1970s Dr Who’s. And he invented the best ever sci fi robot
I’ve always seen The War Machines as a bit of a relaunch for

- with Ben and Polly as the Swinging new Ian and Barbara. But I just noticed both pairs have a first trip back in to history before a second adventure that introduces a significant new monster
I’ll take a safe bet that I have more books by Terrance than any other writer and I’ve loved some of those more than any TV episode. In a very real sense, Dr Who died for me today.
How many of us here have a bookshelf like this? Thousands I bet. Terrance Dicks was taught by FR Leavis. These little paperbacks are in my canon. They’ve been with me for decades. I expect to see them when I’m wheezing and groaning on my deathbed.
It all started as a mild curiosity in a junkyard, and now the Pilgrimage is done. Every single (1000+) episode of

Season 22 blu ray trailer inspired me to go and watch the earlier ones. They’re all lovely of course, but the 24 Carat one has a special warmth and joy to it that is totally in keeping with Season 24 and so I deem it The Best So Far

the quality gap between the last episode of Time and the Rani and the first of Paradise Towers 1 is almost as vast as that between Androzani 4 and Dilemma 1 - except this time it’s moving in the right direction
