I can’t believe it’s been five years since I sent this tweet. It’s been a wild ride watching
@AEW
grow and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the company!
Obviously I would never have wanted something like this to happen. I am a wrestling fan first, before an AEW or WWE fan. Sucks to hear the news about them today.
Anyone who is a fan of television production needs to watch this. The
@AEW
director and production team were fantastic and created such a special moment.
@AEWonTNT
To all of my new followers and the huge number of people reaching out about this, thank you for the support! Love seeing that you all are just as passionate about pro wrestling and
@AEW
as I am!
Coming out of retirement to share that today I had the absolute pleasure of meeting
@CodyRhodes
. It was great to talk to him about my Tweet and how far he's come since I sent it over 6 years ago!
.
@CodyRhodes
leaving
@AEW
is a huge bummer. Don’t know where we’d be if he didn’t take “the bet” those few years ago. Thank you for the great memories!
I don't think he realizes how much this tweet changed the wrestling world heading into the next decade and led to the creation of another second wrestling promotion.
If AEW, ten years from now, have their own Hall of Fame, he should get a "Fan" award or something.
When I originally thought up my tweet to
@davemeltzerWON
I had the Nassau Coliseum in mind (since I’m from LI). Being there tonight with nearly 10,000 other fans was truly special

I say the same thing every time someone asks this, but all credit goes to
@TonyKhan
and the
@AEW
team! It’s through their hard work that Punk is back, nothing I did! Super excited to see him on Dynamite Wednesday!
Coming out of retirement once again to say congratulations to
@CodyRhodes
on becoming the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion! Can't wait to see where
@WWE
goes from here!

Wow! I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since All In. Time really has flown by. So happy to see all of the success AEW has had and looking forward to All Out this weekend!

It really is amazing. My tweet was a small part of the story but the real credit goes to Tony, the Bucks, Cody and the rest of the AEW team that has built it to the company it is today. Just mind blowing to me.
Hey everyone! I’m stepping back from posting on this account for the foreseeable future. May post from time to time but not often. I’ve loved chatting with pro wrestling fans and am excited to see what the future holds for the business.
I’ve never mentioned this on here before, but I had a job interview with AEW and the final interview was with
@TheBrandiRhodes
, she was such a professional and spoke so highly of the company. I wish her nothing but the best!
People on here forget that wrestlers, Superstars, athletes, whatever you want to call them, are people too. Same thing with those behind the scenes. Everyone should be happy that the industry is thriving and people are making a good living!

You mean to tell me wrestling doesn't have to be us vs them?!
( sarcasm intended in case anyone seeing this needs it spelled out )
I’ve watched Cody’s
#WrestleMania38
return probably 20 times and I still can’t believe it’s real. Everything about it was perfect! Can’t wait for night 2!
It's pretty insane that this tweet, and everything that would later follow for years to come, would be the gamechanger for professional wrestling.
I wonder if the person who tweeted this knows the impact this tweet made in the industry? I can only hope and imagine.
Exactly! More competition will only make the product better AND give more work to our favorite wrestlers. Whether it’s AEW, WWE, TNA, NJPW, etc - we need to support them all!
I absolutely loved it. Place was packed and going wild the whole night. Honestly, my favorite part of AEW is the fans singing all of the theme songs- of course I was singing along too!
Lol no! I just don’t want anyone sending me money! Buy something from the shop so you have a memory of what’s happening during this amazing time in professional wrestling.
For me, it could definitely be hard to “turn off” my TV mindset- I’m constantly watching something and thinking “how could this have been done differently.” That said, I think the Punk production was perfect.
