The update we feared. But since we are now in Tier 4 and there seems no realistic prospect of being moved to Tier 2 in time for the race, we have decided to cancel it now rather than wait until further into January. All entry fees are being refunded in full.
Thanks to all competitors, marshals, timekeepers, launch drivers and those wonderful people in the 9 seat shouting encouragement... see you next year or at
@ChiswickRegatta
Change of start time: due to considerable delays in the turn of stream direction due to the quantity of land water the organisers have decided to delay the start by 15 minutes to 1215. All crews will now have to be in their marshalling positions by 1205.
On review of conditions, all looks good for tomorrow. Please wrap up warm and prepare for cold marshalling conditions. Bring lots of warm kit. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

IMPORTANT NEWS - due to expected inclement conditions below Hammersmith the course has been shortened to finish at British Rowing HQ, 50m before Hammersmith Bridge.
New backup timing watches have arrived. Let’s hope we get to test them out in January!! Thanks to Chiswick Rowing Trust for supporting Quintin Head and other local head races by funding the purchase.
All being well Quintin Head will be on 23 Jan from Quintin to London Corinthian. Entries limited to 99, with priority given first to clubs from Hammersmith to Kew and then to Putney clubs. Watch this space for further details.
UPDATE: We are still planning on running the head, but if London is still in Tier 3 by 14 Jan we will most likely have to cancel. Can also confirm full refund of all entry fees if this happens. Revised entry details at 🤞
Another New Prize for 2019 Quintin Head. ‘Marstons Club Prize’ - Case of beer to be awarded to the fastest men’s and women’s Club crew (non academic). Marstons have also supplied a barrel of beer for the prize giving.

The 2019 Quintin Head will be on Sunday 27 January. The tides that weekend are awkward but holding the race on the Sunday rather than the usual Saturday will give us more water. The race will be in the morning but the exact starting time is still being decided.
Final results by time and category now up on the following link . Congrats to all winning crews, especially Marlow and Westminster who won the inaugural Quintin Hogg Memorial Prize
