I think when it comes to music- there's really no wrong way to make it, as long as it maintains its cohesion. If there's a mood, a melody, and a muse, then you'll have music. Without one of these three, it will always be missing something.

I've listened to Massive Attack's 'Unfinished Sympathy' (Syn: Symphony) all day, focusing on the string section. There's something devastatingly beautiful and traumatic about the way the strings sit in your chest as the piece plays. All the while, this driving percussion is pushing you to continue listening. The two merge into one blurred experience of sadness and determination. Massive Attack never fails to stir emotions I've buried back to the surface.
