Not sure what I did to deserve this woman, she had breakfast ready for me by 6 a.m., brought lunch to me in the field at noon, and now made dinner and brought it to the field. All this while homeschooling 3 kids (10,6,4).

Every year we save about 5 acres of grain for Dan Somsen to cut with the Gleaner E. He is a special-needs friend that comes up and helps for about a week with harvest. He will call and discuss this event with my brother for the next 12 months, he truly loves to help out.
Many of you have wondered WHY I chose JD after testing all colors in the

last fall. Its not always just about the best price or the best machine. The little things count. Salesman dropped these off unexpectedly at the shop this morning & made 2 little boys' day.
Claas guy heard we were getting a Deere to demo, asked to take them on head 2 head. NH&Case asked to do the same. Sept 10 we will have a 6 brand "shootout" on our farm. JD S780 vs Claas 7500 vs NH 7.90 vs Case 7240 vs Versatile RT520 vs Gleaner S77. If you're in S.E. ID stop by!
This kid amazes me. He’s the only 8 y.o. I know that would rather work than play with his friends. Life threw a curveball at us right before harvest leaving us a man short, he excitedly stepped up.👊
1100 acres of Winter Wheat lies underneath this still. We’ve melted from 5’+ to 2’ in 4 weeks, but still a bit to go. Who thinks it will make it? 6.5 months of snow cover. Picture taken Monday.
Or....could it be that the price of commodities havent changed relative to the cost of production. In the mid 80s we purchased 3 new N6 Gleaners. Cost? $79k each, with 24ft headers! Now, $500k for a new S780. Trade war isn't what's causing Deere's demise.

Most people post gender reveals and birth announcements on social media, my exciting news today is a big one we are switching the farm from Dewalt to Milwaukee power tools. Brings a tear to my eye!

on an early morning 2 hour haul to the malt plant, wondering what he would say to a farmer if one of us called in?
Dave: What's your debt & income?
Farmer: Well, I borrow $5,000,000 every year, bury it in the ground, & pray we get $5,000,001 back.
Dave:🤬
Farmers over on insta posting pics of 2 X9’s harvesting 20 bu dryland wheat in Montana & I’m over here happy that my little guy has his N5 cuz it’s the only combine in the fleet that is having a positive ROI this fall…..
Everywhere we look we’re being divided
Unvaxxed Vs Vaxxed
Dem Vs Rep
Farmer Vs Consumer
White Vs Black
Rural Vs Urban
Young Vs Old
Atheist Vs Religious
We are more easily controlled & manipulated when divided.
Who’s going to bring this world together? (Pssst, it ain’t the gov)
Until this sickness is cured, our culture will continue to decline. The urge to get a photo & blast this guy online for some likes overrode the action that should have been taken. Put down the phone, go ask the guy if he’d like some help getting it situated.

Started changing the way I ate at the beginning of harvest. The "chaffle" has changed my life. Down 41lbs, 3 pant sizes, and blood pressure is down. Ran 3 miles a day for years and never lost more than a couple lbs. Gallon of h2o a day, no sugar, HFLC. Bring on 2020!
Heaven gained a great farmer last night.
This man taught me so much about patience, charity, and optimism.
Cherish the times you have with your dad on the farm, even if some days he tells you you’re doing it wrong or he breaks stuff!

New neighbors to the subdivision: So....what line of work are you in exactly?
Me: I like to work on +/- .5% net profit, risk millions, and sometimes I bring my work home with me....
The moral of the story from every single Hallmark Christmas movie ever....guys NEVER let your wife or girlfriend return to her hometown for Christmas to help decorate the town square and save the mill from getting shut down......she'll be gone!
2021:
You took my dad, took our crop, & bent our will. You tried to break our spirit, & came close.
You divided the world, the country, neighbors, turned families against each other.
We won’t allow this year to be the same. Even if the circumstances are worse, we’ll be better
Post where you are from and what you do. I told my wife that I bet 99% of my followers are either farmers or in the Ag industry, and that at least half are from Alberta, Canada!
This could have been a High Plains Journal cover from 1981, instead it’s my evening tonight because the axle shaft snapped on the Lexion and the turbo blew into pieces on my 389😄
After 3 years of running John Deere combines and struggling to get a sample we’re happy with we finally have it.
We’ve adjusted, tinkered, replaced, changed, and observed, in the end the biggest difference was…..
hiring the neighbors with three gleaners to come cut with us!
Most 7 y.o. boys are saving up to buy an Xbox game, a toy, or perhaps a new dirt bike, Trey saved up for an N5 with an air reel to help with harvest!

EQUIPMENT SALESMEN! Demos & customer service pays off! Treat your customers like they are BTO's, even if they are small acreage. Do what it takes. We had no intentions on buying a RX. Demo made us realize what we could gain on our operation w/ it. Numbers worked out. Here we are!
"Introducing the new JD hoe-hoe-disc hybrid prairie seeder, with 2,250 bu capacity, you can seed, apply dry fert, and anhydrous in one pass, built for the BTO carpet farmer to gitter dun"
*may need to refill anhydrous every 5 acres
Convince me to take the jab without guilting or shaming me. I’m not antivaxx, but cautious as I’ve seen first hand very bad reactions to vaccines in our family. Convince me it’s worth it if my family already has natural antibodies. Being sincere here…..
With the Lexion still down and a possible snowstorm tonight, we’re going to ask a lot from the ole N5 to harvest the remaining 50 acres of 2500lb irrigated mustard 🤞🤞🤞
Forget the economic ramifications of student loan forgiveness for a minute. What are the societal ramifications?
We will teach this generation that there are no consequences for their actions, no responsibility for the commitments they made.
What kind of leaders are we building?
With 72 pneumatic press wheels, 17 toolbar tires, duals on the cart, and triples on the tractor, at 105 air filled tires, I'm the tire store's best friend!
Why do you use Twitter?
99% of you that I follow are Ag related. I love seeing what you do in your day to day farm life, your work, your struggles, your triumphs. It’s awesome to connect to farmers in Brazil, England, Australia, Canada, etc. & realize we’re not that different.
Well, the Chevelle got dusted off & received new shoes today. A lot of you wanted me to stick with the 15’s, they did look great, but I went staggered 18” with as wide as I could fit in the rear. Stoked with how it turned out. I think dad would’ve liked it too. Before & after
When we hired Bryce on Monday to be a drill operator, we told him by weeks end he be up the creek without a paddle. Poor guy thought we were speaking figuratively!
This valley has some of the best soil in the United States but is filled w/ failed farmsteads from the early 1900s. Frost would get these farms every year but I can sure understand why they tried.Such a beautiful place. Now Barley can be successfully grown probably 3 out of 5 yrs
I've begun to notice that about 75 years ago, many (including us) stopped being farmers. We became "applicators." The fences, animals, rotations, and understanding of biological synergy all were removed from our farms replaced by a production model based on inputs and experts
This is one of my most favorite places to farm. Don’t tell the landlord I’d farm it for free, because I would for these views. Malt barley destined for

Anybody else in a funk lately? Grain prices, weather, state of the country, equipment prices, neighbors, politics, anything else I should add to the list?😁
How can it be that Deere has the hands down, no contest, absolute best guidance and supporting technology but when someone calls it takes ten minutes and an animal sacrifice to the green god to get the Bluetooth connection re-established?
Well since all my political posts always turn into a yardsale of negativity, I’ve decided to quit that and shift my focus back to agriculture. Here’s a positive post!
Well, good, bad, or indifferent, we are Lexion combine owners now. The JD’s actually really surprised us. So did the service after the honeymoon was over 🙄. Don’t regret running green the past 3 yrs but we shoulda just went with our gut from the start and laid coin on the lexis.
We hear a lot about regenerative agriculture these days, I think that’s great as long as the grifters & woke opportunists don’t get a foothold like they have with other ag movements.
What we really need is a regeneration of our small farm communities & the prosperous family farm
If you see your neighbor only as black/white, vaxxed/unvaxxed, or dem/rep, you’ve lost your humanity. Start seeing the good in people, quit putting labels on them & watch how quickly our society improves. “Most” people have good in their hearts. When that ratio flips, it’s over

So let me start this by saying that this is not an apples 2 apples comparison. I demoed a 21 R4044 last fall for 1500 ac & have put 2 full days on the ‘22 412R, The Rogator 1300c is three years old, and the Case thoughts come from a lot of 20 series experience,
In over 70 years farming this is the first time Dad has unloaded on the go into a grain cart. One dealer AMS guy in the cab with him getting machine sync setup, another is running grain cart for us.
Did you guys hear the new auger tractor from Deere doesn’t have def? Just need a subscription to unlock the cab, turn on the wipers , and subscription for the headlights to work😉
I always laugh when someone says “I hate church, they’re all hypocrites”
That’s like saying, I hate the gym, there’s always out of shape ppl there trying to better themselves.
There will always be intolerable self righteous ppl at church, but what better a place for them to be?
Update: No more than five minutes after this photo was taken we lost our John Deere combine to a fire. I guess I should know better than to tempt fate! 😂
Looking for farm help from mid August through late September, combine operator, cart driver, truck driver, bin help, late model JD equipment. Terrible crop this year but great views! DM for details.
What do you do when your neighbors won’t quit drifting onto you and killing your crops? You go the passive aggressive route 😆. Too bad the shop mis-spelled it, but it’s still funny.
I bet this is something that not many of you have seen before. These are 35 year old Yielder no till drills, twin row, single disc, 20ft wide, pulled at 10mph. This is our neighbor's operation, they run 5 of these over 15,000 acres!
When I woke up this morning I had zero indication that spring wheat

would start today.
The older I get, the more I realize the importance of recognizing opportunity when it presents itself, not when only its convenient. I’ve never done this before, I hope it works!🤞🤘
Inherited dad’s chevelle. Haven’t drove it hardly at all in the past three years since he died. That needs to change. Tires are rotten and it needs new shoes. Do I keep the 15’s? 17’s? Staggered 18/20?
Stay tuned for my brother’s winter project….restoration and rebuild of a 69’ Versatile 145. Widow we bought it from says engine is bad. Neighbor said it’s the transmission. I guess we’ll dive in!
