💻 Our latest letter to the Chairs of the Tobacco & Vapes Bill Committee has now been published online. Given the strong evidence supporting #vaping as a cessation tool, we urge consideration of the updated clinical guidance in future discussions on #smokingcessation policies. The claim that smoking cessation services don't offer #vapes as an option due to public health evidence is not correct. IBVTA members support various smoking cessation initiatives across NHS and local authorities, whether through direct supply, voucher provision, or referrals to trusted vape shops. These services also provide crucial behavioural support alongside the provision of vaping products as an effective quit-smoking aid. You can read our letter in full here:

Attention vape businesses! 🗓️ The Chartered Trading Standards Institute @CTSI_UK is hosting free webinars for businesses on the single use #vapes ban coming into force in June. 💡 The aim is to ensure businesses understand the products that they can continue selling after the 1st June 2025 and which products must be removed from sale, the actions that business will be expected to take at the point of the ban and requirements once the ban is in place. 💻 The webinars will be run by CTSI Lead Officers for #Vaping on the 28th February & 19th March. 🎟️ For more information & to book your place: Please also share this link with your industry contacts!

Nearly half of dual users (44%) wrongly believed that e-cigarettes were equally harmful or more harmful than cigarettes. Senior author @jamiebrown10 (UCL Institute of Epidemiology & Health Care) said: "Accurate messaging about the relative harms of smoking and #vaping is needed so that people can make informed decisions about the products they are using. Mass media campaigns should play a key role in this."

Prof Caitlin Notley, University of East Anglia: “It is very important that smokefree legislation does not include #vaping. Vaping is a #harmreduction approach for adult smokers trying to quit #smoking. Policies that deal with smoking and vaping in the same way send a very confusing message. In our smoking cessation trial in hospital emergency departments, patients found it easier to switch to vaping in contexts where they were supported to do so, such as smoke-free but ‘vape friendly’ #NHS sites."

⏰ The Tobacco & Vapes Bill should hopefully be published within about an hour, and it will need careful scrutiny to understand which of the measures making the news headlines today will actually be on the face of the Bill, which might be subject to further secondary legislation and which will be subject to further consultation, what form that consultation will take, and when. 🎙️ 📺 This morning our Chair, Marcus Saxton has been giving the credible voice of the #vaping industry to BBC Breakfast and across the BBC, and will be appearing on tonight's One Show, with more interviews scheduled through the day. Chancellor’s vape tax increase will ‘hurt working people’, says Labour MP, @GlindonMary, Chair of the chair for the APPG (All-Party Parliamentary Group) on responsible #vaping:

The Chancellor has announced a flat rate of £2.20 per ten ml on #vaping liquids. We will issue a full statement shortly.

The IBVTA welcomes clarity on the single use vapes ban first mooted by the previous Government. However, we reiterate concerns about unintended consequences, and any future regulations that may follow. Our Chair, Marcus Saxton has already been providing the #vaping industry's voice on Times Radio and BBC Radio Lancashire this morning, with more news interviews scheduled throughout the day. Much of the political and media narrative around the policy intent continues to concern reducing youth access to vapes. It must be noted that it is already illegal to sell vapes to anyone under 18, and proxy purchases are also banned. We hope the assumption that a ban on single use vapes will effectively remove them from circulation is justified, given the scale of the existing illicit market. Increased resources for national and local enforcement should be actioned immediately, not just when the ban comes into force. Read our full statement here:
