@pranav_techie I think one of the biggest impacts to their lifespan will be the potential need to use precious fuel to get back into the right orbit

That's definitely an idea people like @CisLunarInd are working on! But there are many ways we can get rid of space debris and I think we need to 1) try them all and 2) use every method to clean it up as fast as possible -- rn, deorbiting is the most technologically advanced option

@ghostboy326 @astroscale_HQ I can help answer this q! The rocket was used to launch an Earth observation satellite into space back in 2009. Many upper stages of rockets (like this) don't come back down, especially from launches decades ago when we didn't really understand the space debris problem yet
