This is a great gauge. One of the reasons that I like Shadowdark so much is that is checks almost every one of them. It lacks a bit on #2 IMO, if you only measure "interesting character" based on mechanics, of course.
This is how I measure TTRPGs: 1. Does it make it easier to write adventures? 2. Does it let players make interesting characters? 3. Does it make my prep easier? 4. Does it make running the game easier? 5. Is it easy to make new content for it? 1 point per yes, 1 to 5 scale.

This is my type of response. Lol
@RumpDM Yes, it was gate-keeping. To stop people who could not perform fundamental arithmetic from playing a game. Also, they made the choice to deliver it as a written text rather than an audiobook to stigmatize the illiterate. You nailed it! Awesome insight!

@meilychee88 @OfficialAPoD @mikemearls It's not creative thinking if there are 100 reddit posts about it.

This is my jankity custom #craps table. My wife and I finally found a use for the formal dining room that we never use. We play a game of craps almost every day. 😁

Weird Frontiers and DCC enthusiasts, here's a cool adventure you should check out! When The Sky Comes Looking For You is a 40-plus page zine adventure for level 2 Weird Frontiers characters. The zine features artists who have worked on Dungeon Crawl Classics, Weird Frontiers, Shadowdark and other tabletop role playing games. Your party is hired by a loan-shark luchador to track down a debtor. This leads you all to an airship on its way to the Near. Can you escape in time? Learn more here:

@TimothyImholt Smart people have a knack for seeing through the BS, so, yeah, they are pretty scary.

WotC has removed orcs and other humanoids from the #dnd5e 2024 Monster Manual. What do DMs do now? My thoughts here:

Not only that, BUT, holding a torch IN FRONT OF YOU, effectively blinds you to what is in front of you. The PROPER way to hold a torch is BEHIND YOU over your shoulder. That way what's in front of you is illuminated but you aren't blinded by the bright light 1 foot from your face. And movies always overlook/ignore that torches probably gave off fumes and smoke that would irritate eyes. Hence, hold above you, and probably somewhere downwind if possible.

Yeah, craps is tons of fun. We were at Turtle Creek casino near Traverse City last week and had a blast. However, it does depend on WHO ELSE is at the table. If you got a superstitious idiot who gets upset about every little thing, it can ruin the night. Once there was a guy getting upset because another player would look at his phone every so often. Apparently this interrupted his focus on rolling and that affected outcomes. Then I would get excited or down about certain things, and apparently that was wrong, too. I was making come bets without backing them up with odds, and that was worth a comment. I usually like betting dark on the don't come, but if I had tried that with him at the table, I'm sure the $2000+ he lost that night would have been my fault.

For sure. It also helps to know that you're screwed from the outset. So, if you manage to get say 50% ahead of your starting bankroll, you'd better walk away. You may win in the short-term, but if you stay at that table too long, you're probably going to lose. Of course, I play to have fun, and winning is fun, so when I'm up, it's so hard to stop... 🤣

@GigagodSesamar Yeah that adds to the mystery and suspense for sure. It allows the viewer to fill in the missing details with their own mind too.
