Bendigo Brewing's arrival at the end of 2024 had been a long time coming but it's been worth the wait. They pair classic beers featuring traditional techniques, storied ingredients and contemporary twists with pizzas – plus a handpump and modern styles.

For many, Pacific Ale is a reminder of time spent in Byron and if you're flying from Sydney, your holiday can start a little early. Sydney Aiport is now home to a Stone & Wood bar pouring their core range and a rotating lineup of limited releases.

Weighing up a post-festive season health kick? Then how about a story on running to keep you on track? Admittedly, it also involves chugging beers, "reversals" and sprinting with eskies, but it's a start of sorts...

Hobart Brewing turn 10 in style with two beefed-up versions of Harbour Master; one is barrel-aged and I find it hard to believe the "straight" one isn't as it's that lavish. Then there's a cracker of a 60-day pilsner and a fulsome modern West Coast IPA.

Barrel-aged beer lovers Boatrocker and Pohjala have created distinctive, smoky Baltic porter Virvendus together. The former have also released Vintage Ale: Banshee barleywine aged 18 months in an ex-PX barrel used to finish a batch of Ramjet Whisky.

Eagle Bay's sixth Hoops release, Brett IPA, spent four years conditioning in stainless before seeing light of day. Guy Southern reckons "the dance of bold hop aromatics and flavour that tango with Brett and time itself are cause for one to slow down."

Slipstream released their first barrel-aged wild ale as 2024 drew to a close. The beer has been years in the making, the result according to Mick Wüst: "New and old. Rustic and schmick. Clean and funky. A beer to celebrate, and a beer to celebrate with."

Good Land wouldn't let Christmas go by without some suitable treats. Their latest Pastel Neon Sour combines boysenberry, blackberry and raspberry, while Shadow Perception is a barrel-aged imperial stout made with coconut, banana and marshmallow.

Venom have brought their nostalgia-fuelled Portello Sour back for summer. There's a new look and a rather more sessionable ABV, but while the potency has been reined in, the vibrancy remains intact.

Plenty has changed since we first welcomed Hard Road onto Crafty. So we paid Ange, Lein and team a visit at their Bayswater home to taste new beers, grab photos, and bring the story of their locals-focused, community-centric brewpub into the present.

Bonehead Brewing's Brewhouse Series sees them focus on the classics and their latest is a wonderful beer for summer. Sure, many breweries might turn to fruited kettle sours but in Bonehead's Belgian Witbier, we find nothing but layers of refreshment.
